Title: Problems for big guys
Post by: Seb on January 27, 2013, 04:58:47 PM
I know that a lot of the smaller guys have problems finding things for cis men, but I think us big guys have problems finding things for ftm guys because they're all built for the smaller guys!

I'm thinking like those raised shoes, binders...they're all so small when they're made specifically for ftms I find. I shouldn't complain but especially because I wear a men's size 11 (10 UK) shoe, I can't find shoes to make me taller (I'm only 5'8" I just got big feet). I also know a lot of those binders are from Asian stores and I'm too big for anything there. I wear them but I'm so broad-shouldered most of the items cater to guys of a smaller bust size. I can't complain about my bust too much, it's only a C-cup but I still have problem finding binders that fit my body appropriately. My shoulders is probably my biggest problem. They're as wide as any cis guy I know so wearing binders...it's a pain. (Quick note, I'm not a fan of underworks because they compress my stomach and it's too uncomfortable for me.)

Does anyone know of places where I can find ftm items for bigger guys? I'm not alone in this pain am I? It's gotta be a common problem for us, innit?

im not big, well im a big ftm as in im average male hight but slim im 5'10" 140lbs size mens 10 shoe. i go with the underworks tritop from underworks because the stomach compression ones are really uncomfortable. if you are looking for lifts try liftkits they are designed for short men. im also really broad to the point where i had to get bigger t shirts and dress shirts just because the shoulders and back were tight.

I made a review recently on my blog about binders x)
I'm a DD (insert sound of despair here) so binding is the bane of my existence. For the last 10 months i've been using the Tri-Top from Underworks, in my recommended size (i would never ever recommend going a size smaller for health reasons...) and I was pretty happy with it. When you've got a bust like me you accept that it's 'as good as it will get'. I just made sure to always wear something that covered the break point between me and my binder, either using a hoodie (zip up) or a button up shirt over a t-shirt with only the second bottom from the top done up (this covered it up nicely).

Before the trip-top though I used the Double Front Compression binder from Underworks. I've actually had to go back to with one because my Tri-Top broke and with my Top Surgery consultation tomorrow (squee) I want to hold off replacing it till I know my surgery date.

In any case, I recommend underworks, they seem to actually understand that not all of us are cute skinny asian boys ;) They are also super fast at shipping and a good price in my opinion!

For height enhancing shoes, I can't help there. I'm 5.8 with tiny feet (size bloody 6 in mens) but height isn't something that bugs me. I'm tall enough in my opinion. I'm only an inch shorter than my boyfriend so it doesn't bug me. Plus men's shoes are awesome, I want to frolic in every pair of men's shoe (how very gay of me...), I couldn't be bothered worrying about increasing my height =) Men come in all heights. I have an irish friend whose only 5.5, I tower over him lol and that's good enough for me, personally.

Edit: just noticed you said you didn't like underworks because they compress your tummy. I have the solution my dear mate! If you get the tri-top, it stops around your diaphragm so no worries with that one. If you went with the double compression, step into it with the bottom facing up. Pull the bottom up to your arm pits, get all tucked it and adjusted, then pull the top of the binder up, stick your arms through and bang! it ends around your diaphragm again, and it offers you a bit more compression but it is not a dangerous amount of compression by any means.

As for shoes, just get height increasing insoles. I bought these
http://www.menstallshoes.com/shoe-insoles-inserts.html (http://www.menstallshoes.com/shoe-insoles-inserts.html)
and theyre great. they feel comfortable and i dont even notice theyre in there. I wear 10.5 and they fit in there perfectly. I can only wear the 1.5" part comfortably but with higher topped shoes the full 2" could work

Can't comment on anything else though, sorry.
