Title: Question about Body hair and HRT
Post by: bethany on January 31, 2013, 06:37:29 PM
I have a question. Will HRT diminish the amount of body hair someone has?
I can not stand the sight of my body hair and so I just shaved it all off. What a pain it was to do; but I look so much better now. I hope HRT will take away any and all the hair on my torso.

Hugs
Bethany

hrt may thin it out but it will never truly eliminate body hair ( unless you had very little peach fuzz hair)

It also takes awhile to notice...maybe a couple of years but ymmv

HRT should affect your body hair over time.  It will grow much more slowly and probably become finer also.  This is supposed to be one of the last effects of hormones, taking up to a year to start, but some including myself, notice positive changes in body hair much sooner than that.

My body hair is mostly invisible now, way sparser and thinner than it used to be.  You can only see it when the sun catches it right or when I have a tan, and I could honestly get away with not shaving my legs.

Timeframe-wise, I realized it had become super thin about a year into HRT?  I think it's still thinning even now 2.5 years after that.  I have heard that some people have less luck with it though.

My experience was similar. A lot of hair went away but I still needed to supplement it with electrolysis. One area that bugged me was nipple hairs. They didn't seem to die until I had them zapped. The good part was they could zap the odd chest hair here and there. The end result took a couple of years. After my Srs, the body hair went way down to almost nothing. I barely ever have to put a razor to my body and then it's it's a tiny patch on my lower legs.

My body hair has greatly dimnished for only 10 months on hrt so far, imo. I can get away about three days without shaving (smooth legs) and not getting a lot of stubble. It also grows much more sparse now. One of my friends whos cis has to shave every other day. So I think that's pretty good. I was a hairy beast before in regards to my legs at least.

My butt hairs are finally fading away, it's such a relief lol. I haven't had any laser sessions yet but I'm already seeing my hair completely diminishing in some areas of my face like my chin and side burn area. And a bit of the upper lip too. There not turning blonde or anything like very white hair. The follicle has been completely stunted it seems like. However I do have some hairs on my face that have turned somewhat whitish but there extremely tiny. My hair color is jet black. So I'm really hoping laser does the job. And that I won't need a bunch of electrolysis sessions.

I do still have a few hairs around my nipples but they seem to be disappearing gradually as well. Same with the chest hair.

All in all I'd say hrt has been doing it's job amazingly on my body. I feel very fortunate!

Mine is still there, but it's less dense and quite a bit finer. But I still have to shave after nearly 1.5 years.

Mr. winkey, Body hair and veins are my three things I wish would disappear tomorrow.
