I'm a week away from 3 months on T, and when starting T I was 145lb. Now I am about 154. I am trying to bulk and increased by calories to about 2300-2600 a day, lifting 4-5 times a week, every body part twice. I'd say I'm an experienced lifter, so I'm doing things right (so it seems, because I am visibly gaining muscle and strength). I'm getting bigger, my clothes are getting tighter on my arms and chest. BUT. What I noticed that is my hips have enlarged. My jeans have gotten a bit tighter around my waist, so I probably gained some fat. My hips are now fatter. I can grab the fat on my hips, and Before T, my hips were thin, barely any fat on them; easy to call them male hips. I'm 5'7 and I look buff, I wear medium mens shirts and size 32-33 jeans. My body is athletic but not cut, can't see my abs, there's a bit of flab there.
Is the newly acquired hip fat due to improper an improper bulking method, or T fat redistrib? I thought it was supposed to go to your stomach, not hips? This is ridiculous.
Well, on a bulk you gain muscle AND fat. Sounds like before you started lifting you had a low body fat percentage. Now that your body is storing some fat it is going to your hips, as it does for most people with estrogen-based systems. Even though you're on T and used to have low bodyfat it's not a guarantee that your fat will redistribute to your stomach immediately. This takes years for some people. I'm 18 months on T and have seen little to no fat redistribution.
I think tv15 is correct. 3 months is a very short time. I've heard fat re-distro can be one of the last changes. I don't know much about bodybuilding, but I'd agree with tv15 that as you're bulking you're probably putting on some fat. And it just hasn't redistributed yet.
This wasnt the case for me.My thighs and hips had slimmed down, the fat had repositioned per say, became more muscle then fat.I noticed a change in my arms, shoulders as well which had become more thick, not fatty. Then again my body size and shape is different,as alot of us are.I have always bulked in high school when lifting weights and this was loooong before T.I did gain strength in pretty much my entire body, lifting with my legs was like breathing air-was that easy and my arms were just as strong.i just think my experience is different because i have pretty much had T in my body since puberty tho not at the max rate.
