Title: New guy
Post by: krakenshay on February 03, 2013, 06:07:47 PM
Hello!

My name is Shay. Like everyone else, i rarely know how to proceed when introducing my self. I will start with the easy stuff and maybe delve into it a bit more.

I live in vancouver, canada but grew up in Africa. I recently graduated in engineering and am currently looking for work. I am pre-everything and on a waitlist to see a doctor so i can start hormones. I can't wait.

Its been a weird journey to here i suppose. Growing up I never knew what transgender was or that one could change their gender. It was only 4 years ago or so when one day in the depths of youtube i stumbled upon ftm videos and everything clicked. My cousin once asked me what kind of girl i was and now i can answer her and tell her im not and never was.

Its weird coming from an environment that doesnt acknowledge the existence of trans* persons or if they do they dont make the information readily available. So i feel like im behind, like i wasted my life socialized as female instead of living as who i really am. I have a hard time meeting people irl now cause i dont want to introduce them to someone i am not. Hormones and SRS can not come sooner.

I am looking for community and just a place to talk to similar minded people and to hear about their experiences and life and such.

Hi Shay, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 9971  strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother. (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsmileys.on-my-web.com%2Frepository%2FAnimals%2Fferret-3.gif&hash=f49e2f86761323f2abd9c33941920389dbb3b10f)

Hi Shay,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

Great to hear you have done the hardest thing possible. Admitting to yourself who you really are. The rest is easy.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi Shay,

Yes it sounds as if you have had a tough time and it will take a bit of adjusting, but we are usually pretty good at adjusting to stuff when we have to. From posts here Canada seems to be a very good place for TG support, so I hope you find the help you need.

You are very welcome here and I'm sure some of the guys will join in as well. We have lots of guys here as well.

So welcome and join on in!

Cindy
