Title: Experiences just this past month...
Post by: LenoreKatz on February 04, 2013, 03:33:56 AM
If I say I hate football fans, am I just as bad as them? My hometown just hosted the Super Bowl, and for the past several days I've dressed distinctively male... because I've already had to deal with discrimination. They come to my city and try to tell me that I'm living wrong.

Also, it's Mardi Gras, so we get the annual influx of people claiming to be christian while shouting out that God hates me from every streetcorner. I've already decided they're not welcome in this lovely city, and so have a lot of the other people who live here. I've gone so far as to involve the police, who are overjoyed to move them on for disturbing my peace, as they know I'm a local and a decent person, and they hate the fake christians, too. All I had to do was enrage the haters to the point of threatening me.

It's bad enough that the various subcultures here (New Orleans) have such difficulty recognizing that we're all sharing in the same struggles, but I'll be damned if I can tolerate much more. If people can't be nice, they should go home.

Physical violence is never an answer to verbal violence; just because in your eyes the person you assaulted was a "scumbag"  makes the same excuse for them to beat you up. The best response is to not respond in any way.

ps: there's this part in our lovely terms of service about posts depicting illegal acts; I don't recommend posting them.
