Title: VICTORY!!!
Post by: Natkat on February 05, 2013, 03:20:18 PM
as some of you guys may remember back form last year, I had a couple of fights cause one of my friends where to be deportated back to a country who would kill her for being an trans activist.

well I got good news cause after all the worldwide attention, demonstration, signatures and so, its out that she is safe and to be an UN-Refugee the same way as any other person, trans or not.
this is a relife and im very happy, even when I knew this before hand I had to hold myself back alittle for the media, but now its out so I can tell you guys..
I am very happy and thank all of you who been surporting and who signed the petition.

Well done.  I'm not sure whether I was around on here much then, so I don't think I heard about it but I know you've been working really hard for trans issues so it must feel good to be able to achieve something really important, even if it's only saving one person.

but even when its just "one person" we dont really belive this only gonna infect her. a couple of people says that due to this caise it will make more focus and be more easy to gain rights for other asylums seekers in Denmark, + there had been more focus on UK and Ireland and many articles request those countrys to change there rules for better rights for GLBT asylum seakers. also due to this attention we got to focus on a few other transgender people as well who havent been sent back either.

I think were having a party if not this weekend then next..

as I see in your profil your from UK I thought I would translate this part in the danish media where they request UK to take action as well.

The Refugee bords practical change is also a victory for the work between activistm from diffrent contrys, and
a victory for the internation human right organisations and groups as ILGA Europe, and UNHCR.

T-refugee project claims that the other european countrys whos leaving behind the UNs request for gender and sexualety. all dirrect, Britain and Ireland, should follow Denmark and change pattern so a social group can envelope to be able to take minorityes with certain gender identity or sexualety.

"we hope that the victory of Fernanda in denmark will mean that Britain and Ireland also gonna notice that gender and sexualety can be a valued for asylum. we will keep an eye on whats going to happen in these 2 countrys for the future" Stine Larsen says.

Natacha Kennedy who is an activist for transgenders in UK, was one of the activist outside Denmark who suported the caise. Natacha Kennedy says:
"Fernandas caise shows clearly that activism is working. alot of people have suported Fernanda with demonstration here in Britain. and we are happy for how it turned out. now, the English goverment have to publish say what there opinion of transexual asylum seekers is"

sorry for the bad translation
