Title: Starting Laser Hair Removal on my face next week.. Yay!
Post by: JohnnieRamona on February 07, 2013, 12:41:16 PM
I've already had five lazer sessions on my neck, but I'm finally going to get started on my whole face next week. I'm super excited! Do any lazer vets have sage advice to impart? I've heard that it's more painful on the face, particularly on the chin and upper lip. I've been told to take ibuprofen before the session, and put aloe on my face after each session. Does that sound right? I'd love to hear any more tips y'all might have :)

may want to consider a few benadryls. You can get welts caused from a histamine reaction as the root is fried. Also, if they press the spot with their finger as soon as it is zapped, i helps a lot. Especially on upper lip.

Jessica... That's good to know. How many benadryls, and how long before the session?

I also found out that if I have any coffee (caffeine) the day I have electrolysis/laser, it tends to be more painful. Other than that I don't use any meds at all. But everyone is different on their own.

Careful with the lidocaine. It tends to flake off after about half an hour, leaving you with your own personal snowstorm.

My advice? Learn to tough it out. Not our best suite, perhaps, but there it is - if you can just ignore the pain (it helps, I find, to focus on the pain itself, not try to escape it), it can be much more manageable.

The kind I got was a gel (like vaseline). The brand is 'Fougera'.

Toughing it out was my second suggestion  ;)  Probably not very satisfying though.

That's the stuff. It dried, flaked, and fell away like a cloud of snow. Or dandruff.
