Title: Best reaction i could possibly have hoped for.
Post by: Shannon1979 on February 09, 2013, 06:17:51 PM
Hi ok so today i decided that i was going to tell a close friend about being trans. I was nervous but had decided to tell her first because though i didnt for one minute think i would get a negative reaction, i was unsure weather there would be shock to a large degree. Wow i explained i had somthing i needed to talk to her about, skirted round the houses for a few minutes but then came out with it and showed her a photo of me as shannon. The reaction was brilliant no shock at all well not anything that showed. she simply said 'As long as your happy with who you are. i will get used to calling you Shannon when you finally fully transition.' Then five minutes later we where on the internet looking as dresses disscussing what styles where in fashion at the moment and what would suit me. She even gave me a few odds and sods from her make up for me to try. :) :) :)

I had a similar experience when I came out to my best friend. Congratulations on coming out and on her being so supportive!

That's really great Shannon, well done. It's inspiring to hear when people accept each other.

Yea it has given me great confidence. Obviously im not ready to come out fully yet, but i now feel that when i do it wont be the friends apocolyse i was imagining. sure i will lose some friends particularly my biker friends. But people are far more accepting than i thought. :)

One of the first things you learn on this journey is that you never lose friends, you only gain them.

If they don't love and respect you they never were friends

Great news. Such a good feeling when they are not only supportive, but actively supportive.
