Kia Ora,
Since surgery, I've been into getting back to nature in a big way... Even before transition [well, way before my dysphoria reached its peak] I enjoyed the freedom of romping around naked...When I first met my ex we used to go with friends to the local nude beaches and before this some friends and I would go camping in a remote spot in the bush, one of my favourite spots was a place just outside Coffs harbour NSW Australia, beautiful scenery, by fresh water creek, plenty of wild life.... and no people...
Nowadays living in NZ, I visit a local nude beach on the island where I live-was there today for a swim...People seem to be more open and friendly when they've got 'nothing' to hide...
Are you a 'naturist' at heart ?
Metta Zenda :)
Heck no, I don't even let my dog see me naked.
I totally am. Unfortunately none of my partners for the past 20 years have been comfortable enough in their skin to go to a naturist resort with me. And lately I feel caught between genders so I'm not overly keen on romping around in the buff - though I am considering a local hot springs in the next week or so.

Kia Ora CATC,
Is this because you're pre op ? Or you just don't feel comfortable in your birthday suit ?

A bit of both. I've never felt right about anyone seeing me in the buff, even spouses. And nudity does make me uncomfortable in general. I put a lot of effort into avoiding gym in high school because of it.
I like the concept of it....getting back to nature and all, but sadly I'm only a naturist when I'm washing up. I'm not comfortable with my body and I get cold easily.

Kia Ora SageFox,
I find it quite exhilarating a real sense of freedom, most of my friends on the island often visits the nude beach...It's funny really because at times it's hard to recognise some locals with their clothes 'on' ;) ;D
Well I hope you get to the hot springs and are able to wear your birthday suit...

Guilty as charged.
My parents started taking me to nudist beaches & campsites at around the age of 13, they thought I had confidence/body issues about my eczema & decided this was the best way to get me over it, what they didn't realise was that my issues were gender related.
When I first moved in with my ex her brother lived in the house but as soon as he moved to help care for his elderly parents my clothes came off, it took a couple of months before she was able to not do a double take when I walked into the room naked.
FUNNY NAKED STORY:
When she worked late shift I would have a cuppa waiting for her, she would often knock on the front door whilst she locked her bike up so. . . . . one night I heard the knock at the door, it was precisely the time she always got home so I grabbed her mug of tea & headed for the door, I confidently swung the door open wearing nothing but a big grin as I announced "surprise!", well her male workmate who had popped round did have quite a surprise being confronted with my meat & two veg, his eyes glanced down & I've never seen someone do a 180 turn so quickly, I'm so used to being naked around people that I didn't budge, I just asked "are you gonna come in or just let the heat out?"
My ex appeared seconds later & I thought she was going to do herself an injury she laughed so hard, his wife wasn't happy because she'd heard from my missus that I had a **** like a babies arm & she was disappointed to have missed her chance to see it!
Not me, no way. I don't even like to look at my body after getting out of the shower. I need to be able to wear something, to at least keep things from moving around. I didn't used to be this way but ad my dysphoria has intensified this inability to confront my body in that manner increases as well. When I was much younger and lived on my own i would occasionally indulge but certainly not any more.

Kia Ora Awishfor,
How about after transition ? Do you think you'll be more comfortable ?
Metta Zenda :)
sorry but my nakedness only can be see by a wife or soulmate, im not interested in letting anyone else see that. I hate the fact that I have to go to a gym and get naked as well.
Kia Ora,
I should add, what I like about going to the nude beach is all the different body shapes, fat, thin, tall, short, athletic , couch potato, women with narrow hips and small breasts, women with big breasts and wide hips ... People are people...Today a group of young women [South American-possible Argentinean -there's a lot on the island] slim bodies tanned skin, and next to them a couple of middle age slightly overweight Kiwi women, further along the beach were a few middle age men with suntans and 'beer bellies', then there was the young athletic type guys... There's also a good mix of bi, gay, and lesbian on the island, many visit the beach as well....
And when it comes to the genital department I don't take much notice, seen one seen them all ;)
Metta Zenda :)
i used to go to a public beach that was also a river in spokane, it was partially nude, but I don't feel comfortable in those areas anymore.

If I am to transition I believe I would be more comfortable. Much of my problem comes from my body dysphoria and my "extra's", tucking gives me some small sense of relief but that wouldn't work on a naturist beach would it? At 43 I am fairly masculinized, not overly so, but I strongly resemble my father facially. My deepest fear, as I've stated elsewhere is that I won't transition because I feel the cost may be more than I am willing to pay.
C.
Kia Ora,
I know that due to gender dysphoria some trans-people also have some major hang ups when it comes to their bodies, however I wonder what else causes this inhibition/ fear of going naked? How much is due to ones up bringing?
If after you have 'fully' transitioned would you go and get naked at a nudist beach ? [I realise for F2Ms this might be somewhat out of the question-unless they've had successful bottom surgery]....
If not why not ?
What makes you feel uncomfortable ?
Metta Zenda :)
Never had a problem with nudity. We (me and my wife) go to Cap D'agde every summer. You can dress/undress exactly how you want and no-one gives a hoot.
I'm actually one of the few there who wears something on my bottom half during the day usually a pareo or a miniskirt but it's not unusual to see a preop TS nude . Going out in the evenings to the restaurants it's normal to dress in something slutty. I would live there if I could, it's my idea of Heaven.
ok so what if everyone was naked all the time, and we wore no clothes, everyone on the planet everywhere was naked?
See I know it used to be like this before we started feeling ashamed about being naked in public, but its not that way now.
I guess a beach is slightly different, but i for one enjoy clothing and realize its purpose.
Heck yes! I like being nude. Whenever I'm home alone, the clothes come off! :P
Outside? Well, I'd rather not be arrested.
Dog's don't know its not bacon.... >:-)
I kid I kid! Dog's will go after humans if they are randy enough. Just sayin'

"No, boy, that's not a treat. No, no, no! Ah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Kia Ora,
::) Don't you think it's kinda weird that some trans-people crave the body of their opposite birth sex and when they finally get it, what do they do ? They cover it up-hide it away ;)
Which begs the question when it comes to being your true self what's more important...The body or being able to wear the clothes that cover it up ?
Now I should point out, when it comes to nudity I'm no extrovert, but I am comfortable going naked in places that allow it...
Just a thought....
Metta Zenda :)
Well, to be fair, a body is yours. Having the right body doesn't mean people will want to show it off.

That's true, I'm just pointing out, all the effort ones goes to to have the 'right' body, only to end up keeping it under wraps...

I'm so sorry, but I can't resist a good setup.
I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it pre-op, but probably would be willing to give it a go post-op.

Sadly this is true, but give me a few years and i will have passed that mark.
I love getting naked!
Though two issues arise - (1) I have elderly neighbours. They probably don't want to see me in my birthday suit! (2) I stay in Scotland - I really don't want bits and pieces dropping off due to exposure/frostbite!
X
Hmm, an interesting question. But I don't feel comfortable being around people naked since I have enough stigma to deal with...that and in the mountains it gets a bit chilly (and illegal) to be going around naked. I wouldn't mind going somewhere with no clothes, but i'd have to get my "suit" trimmed a bit before then. :P
Since my Srs surgery, I do enjoy sleeping in the nude sometimes, especially on hot summer nights. As far as going to a nude beach or something, it's not something that interests me at all. I prefer interacting with my clothes on.
Hunnerd percent comfurtibble nekkid! ;D

That guy better be gay! She got felt up!
Anywho, I would love for it to be legal for everyone to go out naked. In the summer, I constantly get drenched in sweat. Less clothing, less laundry. ;D
Then again, legalizing public nudity might lead to a bunch of car accidents. ::)
That second purse was great looking, but I'm pretty sure the entire thing would fit in the first one. I don't know how she gets around with that giant green thing.
It's odd. I used to hate being naked. Now after top surgery, I love it. I'm just not sure anyone else wants to see it. Like my dear friend Brooke on here pointed out - I basically look like this naked. But with a bigger belly.

Unless it's Valentine's Day, not sure anyone wants to see that.
Kia Ora,
::) I've just added a poll to see how confident some members are, both pre and post transition...
There was also another TV show from the UK where employees in certain companies[mostly the progressive type companies] were given the choice to go naked at work, this was to help build confidence, self esteem and trust...

Metta Zenda :)
I voted for other, I have not pre transition and I very much doubt I would after transition. Possibly in my own home but certainly never in public. (Ya gotta leave something to the imagination) :)
Being nude in public is something I'd probably never do. I have no problems with nudity myself, just so long as it's not me who's sans clothes. Of course I make an exception for when I'm home alone and can just relax or something. Sometimes I just won't put clothes on for a while after a shower or something. Being nude or in my underwear or other very light clothing is comfortable and relaxing for me, just so long as I don't actually catch a glimpse of myself. Keep the mirrors away. :P
Nope, I don't even like being naked in the shower :P
Well aside from the annoying reminder, I tend to live my life with nothing on but a shirt 90% of the time.
We have taught our son there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the human body regardless of the idiocy society obsesses over.
I have also told him once past the door to the outside he can expect to get that belief club over his head so he might as well just keep our belief in the house.
We have never made any effort to hide our sex life.
But when it comes to outdoors and nude, it is me time and I prefer my me time to be with mother nature, not a bunch of naked humans. I go nude to get rid of society and civilization. Unless I am with my wife for play time in the grass, I make no effort to be with anyone. I prefer untouched wilderness. A nice beach might be nice, but this is Canada.

Somehow I can't really fathom a person considering any part of the Toronto harbour Islands an acceptable location to walk around naked :)
Well mostly it is I can't fathom anyone taking any of the Toronto harbour island beaches seriously.
I have been to Sand Banks Provincial park once. Nice place, the water goes out foreeeeeeever before it gets past chest height. Incredibly safe place to let kids swim, near impossible for them to end up in water too deep for them.
But for me, the idea of walking around naked in a location that is ideally a place for attracting crowds is all wrong.
What I want, is a location that looks like mankind has never been to it. And a nice spot of beach would be fun. But I fail the sun worshipper test for the most part. I am not the sort that dreams of tropical vacations. I guess I know too much about tropical climates and diseases :)
If I were in a body I liked (a female body - people are beautiful, I just don't like to be reminded of my dudeliness) I would be so okay with walking around sans-clothes (in a safe, accepting, non-creepy environment).
No. I can't even imagine it, I'm only naked for bathing, getting dressed, or sex. And those things took some getting used to. I don't even think post op I'd feel down with that. Maybe the little things like walking around at home without a shirt on, but in public :o Not my thing. All the power to those who feel confident doing that though :)
If it weren't incredibly likely that id be misgendered while naked (dangly bits :( booo) I would rarely bother with clothes.
On second thought, the pacific northwest is cold and wet like all day every day, so maybe not....
I suppose if I rated at least an 8 on the superficial appearances scale, I might feel better about being seen naked. But then I suppose that's more a person bragging than anything else.
But I am at best a 6, and I say that knowing I am likely a 5 these days. I might have been a 7 when I was 20.
But in addition to having the wrong parts for my peace of mind, I am also not in ideal fitness. The atypical waist situation and the male pattern hair loss. The truth is the only person that wants to see me naked is my wife. And I think that is more she's seen it and just doesn't mind. I don't think I make her horny any more :)
I prefer to be alone, because mother nature is not interested in making a fuss over me.
I clearly remember my first time at a nudist beach, it was Studland on the south coast of England, I was about 13yrs old & spent a very long time lying on my front whilst a certain part of my body tried to tunnel through the sand to Australia.
When my body finally realised that Australia was a it too far away & gave up the effort I went for a swim, once I got used to the cold water my body started to betray me & by the time it was safe to leave the sea I was wrinkled like a pensioner.
the next day I could barely move due to a very badly sunburnt back
Kia Ora,
I was at the beach this late morning/ afternoon for a skinny dip, later this afternoon I was driving home after some shopping and was shocked to hear a man was just killed by a shark at an Auckland mainland beach, possibly a big white, I think a few sharks joined in the attack when the first drew blood... There are plenty of sharks around NZ waters and sighting are common, but very rarely are there fatalities especially in the Auckland area...I feel for this person's family...
