Title: Lip Lift - How do you explain the stitches and scar?
Post by: VickyMI on February 11, 2013, 08:47:34 PM
I am getting a Lift lift next month at least that is the plan.  I have qoutes from Dr. Z, Dr S and Dr. Metzer.  I have one major issue, since I work in drab and am not out how do you explain the stitches for 7 days and then the slowly fading scar for months after?

I was thinking:

A. I fell while biking
B. Got in a knife fight
C. Cut myself real bad shaving
D. _______________

I also tried wearing a bandaid under my nose this evening to see what that would look like.  I tried triming the bandaid to make it look smaller but all versions looked pretty silly.

For those of you that have had a lip lift I am sure most of you did it in conjunction with major FFS and were out of pocket for weeks.  But in my case I am just doing this one procedure - its a 40 minute in office IV sedate local anastesia procedure.  I plan to fly in and fly out the same day.

So please help I need some why to hid this thing at the office or at least a good excuse for the stitches under my nose.

Thanks !!

Kia Ora,

Lip Lift - How do you 'explain' the stitches and scar?

With great difficulty, unless  that is, you're a ventriloquist ;) But on a more serious note, I think the "had a cyst removed" would be the way to go...

Metta Zenda :)

Better think about how you'll explain a swollen upperlip, a swollen nosetip and restricted lip/mouth movement while speaking, smiling etc.....

I dropped drab in the 90s, however I had a lip lift and alarplasty two months ago during the xmas break. After two weeks I used camouflage makeup. The scar is below the nose and is not highly visible. No one is the wiser.

Forgot to say, I had tape covering the stitches for a week. But I had an allergic reaction to the tape which took a week for my lip to recover after the stitches were out. Stitches neatly placed under the nose is usually only one thing. Can't you take a week out until the stitches are removed?

One thing you don't do is explain the scar, because with a little bit of camouflage makeup blended over it, nobody will see it.
