Title: Productive activities?
Post by: Joe. on February 11, 2013, 09:05:34 PM
It's half term in the UK and tomorrow I don't have anything planned. I don't want to lie in bed all day and let the day be wasted. Anyone got any idea what I can do which is interesting and productive? Maybe like some sort of project or something to help my transition. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hahaha, second Devlyn XD

You're already out to your parents, right? I'm currently spending time finding a creative way to do that...

Then you could always read a good book you've been neglecting. If it's something you enjoy, time spent reading is never wasted. I'm currently reading 'True Selves' to see if it's something that might help my family understand me...

Half term?  You what? That's next week isn't it?  Got me all worried now that I'm going to wind up at college on Wednesday and no one is going to be there.

One of my favourite hobbies seems to be trying to make a good packer or STP.  I've got the STP down pretty well, the packer is on version 2.4 and still not quite there yet.

I also third working out.  Make a punchbag, that's definitely worthwhile.

Oh gosh, I got a punchbag a few months ago (Didn't make it though...). Anyways, greatest thing ever, never mind the exercise aspect. Stressed? Angry? I take it out on that thing and it's really quite therapeutic. Buff arms a bonus.

Workout, catch up on some work, do what Alex said and make a packer/stp.

I've been trying to make this STP: https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,105720.0.html (https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,105720.0.html)   Think I used too much WD-40 though. It's not too difficult if you have some index cards and silicone laying around (and if you don't, what could be more manly than goint to the home imporvement store?).

I'm on half term too, well technically that's next week, but I've finished everything so I don't have to go in this week either :P

I'm spending the time working on some freelance projects and watching various tutorials on how to do cool stuff with PHP

One of the projects I did a couple of months ago (when I had a bit of time on my hands) was to go to the local shopping areas and do a full recon of all the facilities specifically for men.

For example:
I made a list on my iPhone of all of this info, so I know where to go when I need a specific item.

-Make yourself a big batch of beer or mead.
-Learn to take up the hems on your pants.  If you're anything like me, this is a skill you'll need  :).
-Definitely take LearnedHand's advice and go visit the home improvement store.

Thanks for all of your replies guys. There's a lot of good ones there. Needless to say, I ended up watching films all day so it wasn't productive in the end, but I will definitely try these things another day this week.

It's half term for everyone in my area :S maybe it's different where you are but I'm sure you would have been told if it was half term for you this week.

Unlikely, they're as useful as a binder made out of soggy toilet paper.  I'm tempted to pretend that I think it's this week haha.
