Ok just couldn't help but to share this.
One of my good friends who recently moved away (right before I came out and started transition) just came out as transgendered on facebook! I am so excited for MYSELF to get used to using new pronouns for someone ELSE.. Ayeee!!! Just when I think my group of friends can't get any better, this happens.
This is gonna be so much fun! It totally does make sense, too. I've always seen the girl in her :) She was always the one dancing to my DJ sets getting all the other girls to join in... A wonderful soul, full of energy and love.
I'm forcing a phone conversation tomorrow. She is moving back here to LA immediately and splitting my room with me if that's what it takes to get her back.
Anyone else have a good friend come out to you? What was it like??
Or perhaps did you come out to a close friend that you knew was transgendered?
I think if I ever do, I'll end up bombarding them with so much they will run a mile.
Really happy for you and your friend.
Really happy for you and your friend
Never had this kind of experience
If I did I probably be excited as you are
That's awesome! I'm sure having a friend who is also transgender is going to be very helpful for her!
x
We just talked on the phone, unfortunately we are separated by about 2200 miles
It was incredible to hear about her going through her previous life struggles with dysphoria, and practically everything she mentioned I related to.
Before she moved away, she was at one of our house parties. It was right around the time I was growing so insanely comfortable with my femininity. We were literally chasing each other around all night acting like girls. When I mentioned this happening, she told me that it was one of the major instances that opened her eyes.
Well, it was for me too. It was the next week that I was fully able to come out to myself and begin transition. We both sensed something underlying, there was a very special soul connection that neither one of us could explain at the time. Now it just makes a whole lot of sense!!
I really hope I can get her to move back soon.
About 3 months into my transition one of my friends contacted me after a long hiatus of our friendship, and after about 20 minutes of us "guys" catching up I was told there was something I needed to be told. I was like well I have something to tell you and it's really big so you go first...
Well you guessed it. 'He' was really a she and had started her transition 3 months before I started my transition. Then when I told her my big revalation she was like 'no way!?'.
It was a rather interesting conversation.
We have transitioned togather over the distance of many miles. We keep up with each other and encourage the other.
I just came out on Facebook and Renren (Chinese FB), and a big crowd of old classmates came to visit my homepage. Luckily, all messages left were blessings.
Btw, to cynthialee: it is really curious to see an English translation of the art of war lol. The original script of the paragraph in your signature was only 8 characters: know self know opponents, hundreds of battles no defeats. :)
Fantastic! How lucky for you both to have someone close you can go through this with!
And congratulations sylvannus! I bet you couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.
I have a lot of friends on FB that I havent seen or heard of in years and have been thinking of doing a big purge before I come out on it (which I think is a little way off yet). On one hand why keep it a secret, or rather, why not tell people, but do I really care if someone I went to primary school with and not seen since or someone I met like once and then "friended" them never to be seen again knows?
Alternatively I got an invite to a high school reunion a short while ago and thought wouldn't it be great to come out as Cynthia to them there! haahahah Added onto that it was an all boys school. Yea, a few minds would pop I'm sure and frankly I wouldn't want to have to clear up the mess :) I dont think that brain matter comes out of clothing very easily.

Really good news about the responses. As they should be.
Fascinated by your information on Art of War.
Is Chinese literature mostly written in that, by comparison, brief style? How do you personally feel about the differing methods of expression?
I confess my knowledge of Chinese is limited to reviews, but I seem to recall being told once that, different expressions of sentiment and emphasis can be made by differing tones, facial expressions and such. Is this evident in written Chinese?
I understand that, in some languages, Arabic and some Indian languages, a single word is siad to mean what can take a sentence to say in European languages.
Hearing your story put a smile on my face this morning, thanks!
So I have a very close friend/old roomate/old coworker and maybe a week or two ago he told me that 2 years ago he had a vision of the future and one of the things included was me "having a sex change" < lol i think its funny when ppl say it like that.
Anyway, this happened a few days after we had our night of running around like a bunch of little girls. I told him i've been "weird" my whole life and i'm really glad that he told me about what he saw as i have never told anyone. he told me he's weird too, but i didn't pry. i figure he'll further clarify his variety of "weirdness" to me in the neat future.
But if his weird is like my weird then it seems our stories are very similar! Having a great friend to support you is the best feeling ever. My coming out (or his coming out for me) to him gave me enough courage to come out to one more person, my ex gf/super best friend. Her reaction was supportive as well :D
