Title: Back in The Game!
Post by: Doro on February 15, 2013, 02:59:38 AM
A long time ago I posted a topic about feeling conflicted about my HRT. 5 months into it I decided to take a break, 4 months and 12 days has passed and I'm back on and determined, but how much damage did I do? Will I not develop as much now? What about breast size and facial aspects? What about body fat redistribution? My doctor said things will start back up like it never stopped, and I'd be fine, what do you all think? Thanks for your time!

I don't think you stopped hormones for long enough for all of the changes to completely reverse even, you should get essentially the same results I would think, but I'm no doctor.

Unless you noticed a difference in masculinization when you were off HRT there should be no effect on your final results.

Good luck :)

That worries me, because I think my fat redistributed while off, and my facial hair has started to grow out faster, also my face is,t as glowy as it was when I was on. Just how much have I ruined transition? :(

I doubt you've ruined it. I was on hrt for about 6 months around 7 years ago and got cold feet. I was ready for the effects. I wasn't ready to come out. Like you, once I stopped, my facial hair started coming in faster than it had before and my skin texture reverted back. What didn't go back fully is my face. It still looks more feminine today than it did 10 years ago. I also still have breast development that never fully went away.

Transition's not really about looks though. It's about accepting yourself and allowing others to accept you as yourself. Physical effects are just icing on the cake, most of which can be cosmetically enhanced if you feel that strongly about them.

So does that mean I will be fine in the face and breast department? I know it isn't all about looks, but I still want to look like a genuine girl. I don't have to be gorgeous, but I do want a cute face and some nice curves!

That just means that you probably didn't mess anything up. Results vary depending on the person. What stuck around for me might not for you and vice versa. But I'm sure that resuming hrt will show changes for you once again. From what I'm being told by my therapists n such is that I can expect them to take effect faster the next time I get on them because I already did it once.

I am just scared that I'm going to look lacking and awful because of it. Ugh, I should never have quit. I hate how I look as a "guy" I don't want to see that, I want to be able to see the real me...
