Maybe I shouldn't even ask this, but I have very little to work with and I hope someone can help with at lease a few light makeup techniques. I took these pictures over the last couple days, and the second one is from this morning so the face looks a bit sleepy still. Anyway, I know the eyebrows need work and the light beard growth muist go (electrolysis is underway), but what else can I do to lightly get rid of some of the old male me.
I couldn't even bring myself to post the one without glasses because it was too horrible. But honest advice is needed, and be cruel if you need to since I know it's bad.

I'll throw my hat into the ring and hope that some of this advice can help you -
You seem to have fairly good skin, so I wouldn't over-do it with foundation. A relatively thin liquid foundation can give you a good complexion, and add a little powder over it to take away the shine.
I like your cheeks - applying blusher onto the "apples" of them will bring them out and look radiant when you smile.
You may want to fill-in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil. And apply a touch of mascara to the top eyelid to really bring-out your eyes.
I admit its not my area of expertise, but there are plenty of good tutorials on Youtube, and through trial and error you may find a look you like.

Thanks Devlyn and Bexi. I read the wiki info again, and I'm going to do as much possible. But after I picked up a few cosmetics I found I was blessed with the skill of a child trying to use finger paints. :) And unfortunately my wife doesn't want to get involved. Can't blame her there.
I talked to the young lady at the cosmetics counter and she said a couple things that you just said Bexi. But I didn't want to sit around Macy's near the escalator and have her demonstrate on me. Oh well.

As was stated above practice makes perfect. And actually it shouldnt be that hard for you to look more feminine. Ok so i would say you should invest in a decent wig. But you dont have hugly strong masculine features. A few cleaver make up tricks would work really well. Pick some eyeshadow that is darkish to make the eyes appear deeper, Not too dark as it will look like you have walked into a lamp post. apply lipstick with a brush to define the edges of your lips or use a lip liner. This will make them appear fuller. When i use blush i bring it down the cheek a little to dull the cheeks making them appear thinner. i also put blush along the underside of my jawline and chin to take away the squareness of the male jaw. but you may not need this as you jawline appears to not be as pronounced as mine.
I cant guarantee results. All i can say is that this works for me. but if you do find any of them work for you. im only too glad to help. :angel:
One thing that I do that might help you is to use a little light shade of concealer right along the upper sides of your nose towards the inside corners of your eyes. It helps to minimize the snout in that area and can help make you look a tad younger. I use a couple different shades of concealer to change how light and dark certain areas of my face and jawline are to help give a softer appearance. Just takes a little experimenting to see what areas need to be done to look the best.

True enough. I'm only going on what i do, I didnt explain myself very well. i cant see her eyes too well with the glasses. My eyes have quite fleshy lids so i use darker to thin that down a little. but i also use a bit of the Barry m dazzle dust (not too much) to attempt to make the eyes pop.
Find someone who works with transwomen and cross-dresser. The best thing I ever did was get a professional makeover and some lessons. Fro there I just practiced, practiced and practiced. I learned what works for me.

Oh, I'll have to go back and buy more makeup. lol. I do have a nose problem that won't go away.

Shannon and Dahlia. Yes, I do have deep set eyes, and the new smaller frame glasses hide them a lot better than the old 70's style wire frames. It was kind of a strange mistake I made that seems to work o.k. More makeup? Oh my.

As some of the girls above me have posted its really about practice took me about 7 months to get to where I'm at today. If you click on the youtube link next to my username I have my personal make up technique that I do. It's about 40 minutes long. lol. Maybe you can pick one or two things up from it you didn't know. We are different ages so our age group make up is different.
My personal opinion is that you should keep the make up light, with natural and nude tones. You have a natural beauty and wonderful eyes. I would like to see you highlight your eyes and bring them into the most focus. The best color eyeliner for blue eyes is Natural tones, light purple, silver, gray, and shades of brown. When your shopping in the makeup isle they usually section off eyeliner/eye shadow for different eye colors.

For application hints (and to get an idea of the wide range of approaches people use) I'd suggest checking out some of the make-up tutorials on YouTube -- both ones that are specific to T-girls, but do some searches to find ones that show everyday make-up for a more general audience. At least they will give you hints on any of the basic stuff you may not have easy access to guidance on otherwise, and seeing the techniques in action is so much easier to understand than a written description.
I'm lucky in that I started doing make-up in high school, though mainly it was theatrical and often I would wind up doing a lot of the more involved things like aging, special effects and prosthetics, scars and creating facial hair. If you can get a copy of any of the Bobbi Brown books, those are excellent (and only a few years out of date) when it comes to everyday stuff.
My impression is that, for your age, you actually have quite androgynous features, (in fact, you remind me a little of my grandmother when she was a similar age) so you should be able fairly readily to find ways to accentuate the positives. You may want to consider a wig, but even that may not be entirely necessary -- it just might help make you feel a bit better about yourself, though the downside can be some discomfort and all the rest that women complain about when it comes to wigs. Still, there are those cultures where wigs are more or less expected, at least once a woman is an adult of
any age.

Hi Elspeth. Funny, I've also been told a few times that I have some of my mother's and sisters features (both good and bad). And the bad features really do need to be hidden.
As far as the wig goes I need to eventually get a good one. For now I have something cheap to help me see if I can find a look I'm comfortable with. I've also been kind of lucky since my own hair is filling in again, but that's not going to help much.

There is a really good product you can pick up called Dermablend. It works great for covering up that beard growth. I use it as my concealer. I use the Leg & Body cream its meant to cover tattoos if that gives you a idea of how well it works. Its very thick you won't need much. I use it on my chin, above the lips, and blend back up my nose line. I apply it was a foundation sponge.... Then apply my cream foundation then set it with light matte powder.
