Hey everyone ,
I'm 21 born a male obviously and I want to begin the mtf transition but have no idea where to start. I've spoken with my mom about transitioning :-\ as my sister & they both said they would support it. My mother however stated she wanted to have no financial connection because to her I would always be her baby boy, what do you suppose I do ? What is my first step in beginning my MTF transition. I don't have a clue where to start . I've watched videos I've read up on it idk where to start. I'm going to post a picture of me dressed as a female on my page so you guys can see, but I want to be a woman. Not a man
First step, find a good therapist who is family with gender issues. They can help you get the letter you will need to go on Hormone therapy.

I agree. This is the very first thing you need to do.
Hi there Amari,
I completely agree with Brooke and Sarah Louise. That is the ONLY way to do it.
You are very lucky to have support from your mom and sister. Hopefully, she will soon see you as her little baby girl.
Now, get posting (15 posts) and show us what you look like. :-*

I would totally upload my pic if i could figure out how to change my avatar
Looks like you figured it out ;D
Yes indeed, it was some-what trying but I figured it out
I began some months ago, and started with a therapist. Best decision in the world. Prior advice is spot on.
Greetings Amari, read the forums, read them some more, then when you are finished, read them some more :)
There's a wealth of good reading here, and you won't regret any of the reading.
Post your thoughts, it is very helpful to hear that most of what plagues you is not something rare, most if not all of us have been there or are still there.
The ole saying it takes one to know one. Well there are no shortages of people here that are essentially you.
I'm glad family is cool with it. Regarding mother and finances, hey yer 21, you are your own responsibility anyway. HRT costs or payments on a car, it all comes under the heading of your own life now. As long as they are cool with you, that's the battle you want to win, everything else is just day to day routine eh. There's always going to be expenses in your life.
Just remember, you set the pace, but it isn't a short journey and it doesn't need to be a short one. There is a lot of things to cover and haste is not always a good thing. Don't be afraid to take a deep breathe and tell yourself, 'I am doing this, but I am doing it right, because anything worth doing is worth doing the correct way'.
Hair removal towards the top of the list of things to do - it can take a lot of time, and money.
Lb ; yeah I've heard that, that is a big one. Fortunately enough I'm not too hair at all so from the consultations that I have gone to it should not be too expensive. Most often I've heard that people purchase package deals in order to save money.
Male bodies often get hairier with age.
At 21 I had next to none.
Today at 50 I can shave my entire body and in 2 days there is almost no sign I had.
Laser is not cheap, but enjoy getting rid of it while you can before you need to care. You don't see a lot of hairy women out there. Lack of body hair goes a long way in establishing your image. I would turf the facial hair first.
Man I wish I didn't need to shave.
