So i'm sure we've all heard of or had misgendering experiences while in boy mode but has anyone else had misaging experiences?
I think i'm just starting to hit that androgynous phase and I look really young to the point where people are questioning my age or treating me like i'm a kid. I've always looked young and gotten comments about it but now it's getting worse.
The other day I had a customer who was staring at me funny. When I asked how she was doing she just flat out asked how old I was and when I told her she freaked out and started babbling "OMG! you look like your 16! That's amazing!" she was apparently really taken back by it. People seem to treat me like im in high school and show me a lower level of regard or respect like i'm some immature little twirp.
Anyways I guess the next stop is getting the double takes and the weirder looks :P
i look now almost exactly like i did when i was eleven years old, haircut and all, and it's more than a little unnerving.
but yeah, the hormones can do that to you. it's crizazy, yo.
Nearly everyone guesses my age wrong. I guess I lucked out with aging genetics :) Who am I to argue with mother nature.
People often think I am several years younger than I am. Personally, I like it. I am not ready to look like an old lady.
By the way Maid, you do look quite young. But, you are also quite beautiful so don't worry too much about it.
I was often asked if I was a student when working on the trams and buses. My parents are in their mid 80s and look 20 years younger,
I always get that, absolutly nobody can guess my actual age!
Me at 23,

Yes! It happens to me all the time! I think it's quite common after you've been on hrt for a while, and had some facial hair removal.
I always get carded when I buy cigarettes or alcohol, unless the person at the counter recognizes me from before. I'm in my mid-thirties.
Last year I went to get my haircut, and the woman asked me if I was still in high school - there was a high school student's discount on haircuts there. I told her my real age, and she was very apologetic.
High estrogen levels will do that. I've aged four years since '94. 8)
I've had to deal with that most of my life. I look at least 10 years younger than I am. This is before HRT too. I'm 28 (almost) and still get carded at almost every club/bar I go to. It was bad enough as a young guy how others would sometimes treat you (especially at work), now as a young girl, your opinion, ideas and views really mean next to nothing. More fun stuff to look forward too.
I've had misaging experiences through my life. Wondering also what will happen with hormones, as I look babyfaced.
I still get sometimes asked for papers, when buying beer...and I'm 35! Five six years ago it was a non-stop event, I always got asked papers.
At school I got bullied, because I looked so young and like I belonged to a 3 or 4 classes junior that where I was.
Guess the hormones will return me again to the point, where I need to carry ID with me.
I have definitely started to be mis-aged over the last couple of weeks, about 5 weeks into HRT. I've actually always kind of had a thing with asking other people to guess my age, so this has been kind of fun. Before HRT, most people guessed my age almost spot-on correctly, usually guessing somewhere between 26 to 28 (I'm 27.) Recently, though, whenever I'm at at a poker table full of old guys and joke around about my age, their average guesses have been consistently going down. The last time I got the opportunity to ask, people were starting to consistently guess somewhere around 23-24 on average. So, YAY! Honestly, I actually feel like I look a LOT younger than I did when I really was 23. (Stress played a huge part in that. I aged VERY quickly in late high school and my first 3 years of college. So when I really was 23, people always guessed that I was in my late 20's. So it's kind of ironic that I looked 27 at age 23, but now that I actually am 27, people think that I'm 23. That is pretty awesome.)
I still haven't even come close to being misgendered when still in "boy mode" yet. Sigh... some day. I'm so jealous of you girls. :P I love it when people use female pronouns for me on the internet so much... I can't wait until it can be in real life too.
I got mis-aged even before I started HRT. My second girlfriend was somewhat restrained at first because she had a very hard time believing I was over twenty and she did not want to do anything funny with a minor.
Also yesterday when I got on the bus the busdriver had to ask if I was over sixteen or not, I'm in my mid twenties.
yup and I love it :)
I'm a few months from 35 which makes me feel ill at the best of times.
No one believes I'm over 30 and it happens a fair bit.
yay :)
Daily basis. I am 30, but i get 18-23 a LOT
I've had the opposite experience, I always looked young for a guy because I didn't masculinise much, but as a female I now look my age. Although now hopefully I won't age much as young looking genes run in my family!
Yes! I'm 29 and and frequently get 18-19. I work in a niche of the wine industry that requires the accumulation of significant amount of information, and customers frequently point out the disparity between my knowledge and apparent age. I seem, finally, to be transitioning from "19 year-old boy" to "is that a boy or a girl?"
I get treated as much older than I really am because, I guess, I'm still not quite in girl mode. Women in guyish clothes appear older. That, and my eyebrows are a mess, and my skin is awful. I've had wrinkles around my mouth for a few years, and I'm only 22. I guess I gained and lost weight too fast. :/
I do hope I manage to look my age, at least, once I do the full social transition.
Happened again to me today when I went to go look at a studio apartment. I was suppose to meet the apartment manager outside the office and after standing there a while she walked over from a car and told me she didn't know the person she talked to on the phone was me because I looked too young :P
I get that every once in a while. I really don't mind it, but I have only come across people who were respectful about it. I guess it really depends on the person.
I probably look like I'm in my late teens, and I am 21. People always assume I am younger than I am.
People have always told me I look younger than I am, but since starting HRT I have gotten "shouldn't you be in school?" a few times when running the cash register. If I end up mentioning how long I have worked there to someone newish "How old are you?" seems to almost always come up.
I've always looked young for my age. I am 27 now and people still think I am 23 or so. When I get the laser done and start on HRT I'm sure I will look a lot younger, which is fine by me :)

You are not on HRT yet??? Wow!! you look great :)
All through my life people couldn't guess my age. I guess my family genes are useful for something. I've been stopped by several police officers that thought I was playing hooky. It will be interesting when I start hrt if I will look younger.
