I've decided I want in on the "ask me anything" fun. Who wants to know what? :)
1. What is your name?
2. What is your quest?
3. What is your favourite colour?
4. What expression does that penguin have and why?

1. What is your name?
I keep coming back to "Emily," but since it's the name of a girl I used to like it's gradually feeling more awkward the more real this trans thing feels. I may change it if I think of something better (I'm a woman, I'm allowed to change my mind :P)

2. What is your quest?
To find the grail! And also to become a geek girl :)

3. What is your favourite colour?
Blue!

4. What expression does that penguin have and why?
I'm not really sure... I was searching for a female Tux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux)). As for why... artist's interpretation?

Do you like creamed corn?
I have no idea, I've never tried it. Usually I get bagged frozen corn from the grocery store but on rare occasions I'll eat corn on the cob.

I use Archlinux for my day-to-day stuff. My development work is usually done against a "changes for the next release" build, but since it's all experimental code I don't like to run it directly. But that's why we have virtual machines :)

did you figure out why I would ask you if you liked creamed corn?
Because you like creamed corn and wanted to share with me?

So I should keep guessing...? Maybe penguins eat creamed corn at the zoo? I don't know much about their diet, but I always assumed it was more fish-based...

Another geek girl! We gotta stick together, you know. (Interesting mental image, that.)
Anyway, what is your preferred language for coding? I'm from the days of coal stoked mainframes and have written in just about every language from autocoder to perl.
What modules have you hacked? Just for fun or are you trying to interface your stratocaster as a USB device?
Any other interests besides hacking?

I don't have any single favorite species. The ones I've seen at the zoo are all cute!

I do a lot of C, C++ and bash. I used to love python, but I haven't had much of a reason to use it lately, besides as a scriptable calculator :P

I work on the Linux NFS client, but I've also done a little bit of work on the server side. I'm a filesystems gal :).

I wrote my own music player! The program that I used to use got rewritten and the first few releases removed the features I used the most. I was looking for my own side project at the time, so I decided "if you want something done right, you've got to do it yourself..."

I was around other people and posting from my phone. I was excited to have an answer for the creamed corn question, but typing that out was frustratingly slow on the small screen.

Do people look at you funny when you're sitting on the beach with a laptop?
If it comes down to finishing some code or eating/sleeping, does the code always win?
Do your eyes light up when someone starts talking geek, then droop when you realize that you got so excited about it that nobody else in the room understand what you just said?

I can't say I've done that. I do get sad when my laptop runs out of battery on long flights, though. I once saw one of my coworkers sitting poolside answering email on his laptop! I was sitting at another part of the pool with a book and not a computer.

Code will win for a while, but i do like my sleep. I have no problem getting away from coding for two minutes to bring a sandwich to my desk :P

42. And it's a good thing I don't know the question to the ultimate answer of life, the universe and everything since there is a theory that if I did the universe would be replaced with something even more unexplainable!
There is another theory that this has already happened...

According to the Minbari in Babylon 5 the universe is self aware & in an attempt to better understand itself it broke itself apart into individuals, this is why we have a thirst for knowledge & understanding.
After all, we are mde up of the saame stuff as the stars themselves, we are starstuff

Because Time Lords look like humans :). Although, you can find Romana's regeneration scene and see that they don't always need to stay human-looking!

It's to balance out the Hollywood idea that all bad guys in films have to be British
Fact: the first Doctor in the series reboot was the bad guy from the Gone in 60 Seconds remake. This hypothesis is sound.

Lately all the bad guys are Middle Eastern, but I see your point. The brits do usually end up in bad guy roles.

Favorite time of day is usually between 12:30 and 1. I take a break from working to take a walk and enjoy being outside (even if it's snowing!).
Fridays are always fun, since sometimes my friends put together a game night at their apartment. I actually just got back from that!
As for month, I'm going to go with June since that's when I was born.
I'm going to have to go with Towel Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Towel_day) for my favorite holiday. Although, I did choose to celebrate New Companion Day instead of Christmas this last year :).

Poi are fun too (I didn't include mine in the picture). I haven't played with them in a couple of weeks, the friend I have to teach me went on vacation to Iceland for a couple of months. I need to find somebody new to show me things...
Bumping my thread, jush for fun. Is there anything anybody would like to know? :)
If I said I think you look beautiful in your picture, what would your response be?
My response would be something like: "aww, thanks for the compliment :D. It's a great self-esteem boost."
