Title: My mom is starting to discriminate me
Post by: Dan G. on February 22, 2013, 08:53:04 PM
She and I had a rather tight bond, but after I came out, everything took a dive. She's become a huge touch-me-not, she won't even let me hug her anymore, or even stand relatively close to her. I don't understand.

She's even forcing me to give up my master bedroom to my 9 year old sister, because I'm "getting rid of all my girl clothes". I'd have gotten rid of them years ago if she had let me!! I want to move out with my girlfriend, but there's nothing I can do for the time being, neither of us can get jobs.

I don't know what I can say to her to calm her down about me being trans. It's been 3 years since I came out, and she's still not getting any better. I feel completely hopeless.

I'm sorry your mom is not taking it too well. It might help her to talk to a professional about this.

As for the bedroom, that seems kind of normal to me. Growing up male, I was always given much less space than my sisters. At one point, my brother and I had to share the smallest room in the house while my sister got a huge room all to herself. My parents plainly said it was because she was a girl. So, don't worry about the room too much.

I was pretty much kicked out of my house because my mum 'wasn't comfortable with me living there for a prolonged period of time' and i have to say moving out was the best thing that ever happened to me, all you can do is try and get her to go to a therapy / counseling session if you have them so that she can better understand your feelings and what you are going through
