Title: Your posture
Post by: Frank on February 23, 2013, 07:28:14 PM
So I looked in the mirror today and saw some nice pecs developing but then...my horrible posture is scarily good at making everything disappear. I can see this will have to be fixed after chest surgery. Do any of you guys have terrible posture? And if you're post-op, has that improved or what?

I have terrible posture; I used to have a friend who'd always come up behind me and pull my back up straight. It's getting better since the yoga I do is supposed to help with posture, and I've been seeing lots of old people with hunchbacks lately which always scares me into standing up straight. I'd imagine it would get better post-op since you're no longer subconsciously trying to hide something.

indeed, its been better, but I dont think it will get perfect. my doctor have told me to work on it, so I do try to straight up abit, but old habbits are hard to break.

my posture is horrendous.

I have to keep reminding myself to roll back my shoulders, but then I feel super conscious of my chest. I really hope there is no lasting damage.

I've got some awesome posture issue in my lower back. I THINK it's because my pelvis might be tilted, which can be fixed with exercise, but it might possibly be a spine issue :/
It sucks because it makes my butt and belly both stick way farther out than they should.

I had good posture in high school when I was in JROTC. After the car crash I was in a few years ago that screwed up my back along with the arthritis in my left shoulder (that everyone refuses to acknowledge because I'm "too young" @_@!), my posture sucks now XP.

I've had horrible posture since I was a young teen. I think it's mostly because when I was younger I had a pretty big chest and it was like an overcompensation to slouch and cross my arms, and then it just gets ingrained. I think it'll get better for me after top surgery too. It does kill your back over time though, I should not have as much back pain as I do at my age  >:(

I also have terrible posture because of a large chest. My latest solution (which works well but not in chairs) is to pretend to be wearing a very fancy cape. Nobody slouches in a cape.

I'm in pretty bad shape all around, though, and I'm not very supple anymore. I have to get on that.  :-\

I try and have good posture but I always end up slouching. :p I have better posture when I stand that when I sit, though. A lot of the time though I feel like I'm trying to hide.

I have horrible posture from trying to hide the moobs.  It sucks because it makes me look like a hunchback and makes me look fatter and dumpy, but when I pull my shoulders back, my chest sticks out...

Mine improved after top surgery to the point I seem taller. I swear I grew an inch or so.

Mine has improved a whole lot since starting transition and becoming more confident in how others view me.  I think it will become even better after I get top surgery.

My posture is horrendous. I slouch so much that sitting up straight feels nice on my spine/shoulders for about ten seconds and then it just  feels like hard work xD

Since I slipped a disk my lower back has never been the same, I feel like I'm always pushing my butt out but I can't seem to stop.

My shoulders are giving me serious issues lately, the years of hunching forward to hide my chest have messed them up. I'm in pain constantly and it radiates up my neck and gives me tension headaches, which in turn make me feel sick. I can't wait for top surgery, getting these two annoyances removed will literally be such a huge weight off my shoulders.

Horrible posture. I'll end up a hunchback. Bad self confidence plus large moobs does that to ya. Can't wait until top surgery.

I've had bad posture ever since I had "something to hide" so we're talking like 10 years of bad habits there. I just had top surgery a few months ago. I slouch less in certain circumstances and find myself carrying my shoulders differently... sometimes. But I still have horrible posture. Only exercise and conscious relearning is going to help me with that.

I think my posture improved since I started identifying as male. I don't have a super big chest so I am sure that has been helpful in my case.

I had extremely terrible posture before surgery.  After surgery it started to improve very quickly and a lot of people asked me if i had grown an inch or two because I was standing up taller.  Combination of the confidence, not trying to hide anything, and also working out a lot more since I was more comfortable with my body.
