Are there any surgeons here in the US that use a technique similar to Suporn's, or is that only exclusive to Suporn and Chettawut? I'm wanting to find someone who does that, but is closer than having to fly all the way to Thailand.
As far as I'm aware, no, there are no surgeons in the US that do that particular style or procedure.

yeah, a lot of them use scrotal graft but not to the extent of suporn or chett (in the graft material perforated like skin burn grafts).
My surgeon says he will create the labia minora and clitoral hood out of the prepuce and use scrotal skin for the vagina. Sounds a lot like what Suporn does to me, no?
I was talking about Prof Stan Monstrey, who I suppose is "Western" but also European.
The more I read and learn about the complications with Suporn's technique, the less impressed I am with it. I'd rather not be able to get wood.. :o

As far as I know Monstrey is using the traditional penile inversion approach. I last met him about a year ago (and ran away as fast as i could :) but that's another story)
In the U.S. / Canada, Bowers and Brassard use a single surgery technique that creates labia majora and minora, but each use a slightly different method to get there. Both use combined penile and scrotal skin for the vagina.
Suporn is unique, no comparison.

I have also seen Prof. Monstrey and he told me he uses penile inversion. Perhaps he has changed his technique...
I have seen Monstrey a couple of months ago and he's using the old-fashioned technique of penile inversion. Testimonials I heard about him were terrible like intestinal perforations ending up in a stoma. Waiting lists are long too.
My contact with him wasn't nice either, so crossed him off my list of possible SRS-surgeons.
I had the same experience with him and Dr Miro. I don't know why the European reconstructive urological society sees him as the authority for SRS. I didn't get that impression.
apparently Suporn doesn't remove the penis, he only buries it under the skin and some of his patients do get painful erections difficult to treat.

I'm sorry what? ??? That sounds scary. Like... You can get erections somehow after the surgery??
It has happened:

I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've got to have SRS before the end of this year, but the decision is getting harder. If someone had a chance to have SRS again, would they stay with the same surgeon or would they switch to a different one?
You should make a brand new thread with that as the topic. It'll get more views that way :) I'm also curious about what answers others will give.

Prof Monstrey is not a urologist but a plastic surgeon. He's performing his SRS's together with Prof Hoebeke, a real urologist. But he's not telling that to his patients.
Most of his SRS's are anyway performed by his trainees, not by himself. This is also a fact he won't tell his patients. In the Belgian transcommunity he is well known because of his frequent complications like intestinal performations, ending up with a stoma.
Because he messed up so many patients I have booked my SRS with dr Suporn.

Has happned? I think it happens to all of Suporn's patients? If you get aroused things down there will swell up. I wouldn't call it hard or erection.. Hence Suporn tells his patients not to have any sexual thoughts for 2 months.. Genetic vaginas swell up too during arousel so it's not that strange.
That... would be impossible (for me).
My goodness.

the no sexual thoughts for 2 months will indeed be difficult for me. But I am sure I will get through it.

that is a weird thing to say! Have you seen the pictures from Suporn operation?
My last post was meant for the burying of the penis....

Umm yeah! Of my own surgery....
I know Suporn technical way to recreate a neo vagina....
I was only saying that saying that girls have a penis left inside, is not nice for anyone that had Suporn as a surgeon, and for any girl booked with him, like I am!
