I naturally shun superstitions.
Now I have officially adopted one.
This morning, my wife and I were searching the house, high and low for my passport. Needed for ID. Anyway, my wife has a reed broom which her father made many years ago. If the truth be known he made them by the bucket full to sell. We have this one attached to a piece of string and hanging from a hook in the hall.
So, my wife takes it down, turns it upside down and says we will find it now.
Then I remembered where the stupid passport was!
I am mortified!

Correlation = Two events that seem to occur together.
Causation = One event causes another.
Not the same thing.,.
Never underestimate the power of suggestion.
It sounds to me along the lines of this: "When you have the hiccups, think of the last time you saw a white horse."
P'haps the unexpected distraction, and surreal-ness, interrupted your focus on the necessity of finding your passport long enough for you to actually remember where it was.
Then again... mebbe it's plain ol' voo-doo.
Just a coincidence :)
I agree with all of you. But can someone kindly tell my wife!
Wife, please desist.
Hope that helps...
;)

Kia Ora Jill,
Just couldn't resist it...
Metta Zenda :)
Jill you can ask her where the 20 thousand pounds have been hidden!
Or the lottery numbers, give her a task with purpose!!

She probably knows that as well.
My wife has an exceedingly annoying habit of coming out with some absolutely preposterous solutions to many things. You'd think, after all these years, I would just listen to her.
But they just don't make sense!
That's she's almost invariably right is just annoying and terribly stupid!
Does anyone know why some Rosemary leaves, as a small brush, will keep cat fleas away for example? Or that she can wander into a room, where a particularly busy mouse likes to spend every night gnawing, while avoiding every poison known to man. She tells it to go away and it does? 5 years later, no mouse!

Did it fall out of the broom?

no, but when I saw the broom there I suddenly remembered where the passport was!
Anyway, still not buying superstition. I know there are a lot of amazing things going on, but I personally take the view that each is to be experienced as it happens rather than explained. There are far more charlatans and conmen out there waiting to exploit anything, than realities in any superstitions.
