Hi guys!
i havent posted in a while but i was wondering has anyone got any reviews on the 988 binder from underworks i wanted to get one but i dont know which to get!
the 997 has got good reviews but the 988 seems to be an extreme compression and its new so i cant find any!
any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
I got the peecock full length camouflage binder and im not happy with it at all! i might aswell be wearing a sports bra!! theres only a tiny bit of compression when my fiance pulls the velcro the the very edge!!
its awkward and i hate it!!! waste of money!! >:( :'(
I use the 997, which is perfect for me. It helps to control my damaged belly muscles and it slightly slims the hips as well, which is a major bonus for me as my hips are one of my primary sources of dysphoria. Overall, it gives me a more straight up & down profile.
I do recommend shortening the 'sleeves' somewhat though. It's designed for an average sized male, but I'm very short so the distance between the chest and the top of the 'sleeves' is a bit long. I've shortened mine to make it fit better and to flatten a bit of the bulge at the top of the chest that is characteristic of many binders.
I've tried them both. I personally prefer the 988. It's incredibly comfortable, and it flattens better than anything I've tried, plus it doesn't constrict breathing. I can even work out in it. I'm a C cup if that helps at all.
I can't stand the stomach compression on the 997, plus the way it tends to ride up and form a fold. Then again I'm very thin and wouldn't benefit from stomach compression anyway, so it's just an added discomfort in my view.
I know you are comparing the 997 and 988 -
but is there any reason you are not considering the 983?
Depends on how big you are. If you're bigger than a C I'd recommend a 983 (tri top). The 988 sucks for bigger people. The 997 is a little better.
I am a D and I love the 988. I can't tell if it binds better than the tri-top that I have. I am small everywhere else but my boobs so I had to adjust the shoulders to make the binder fit better (otherwise it was moving around a bit a wasn't up high enough), but I did some sewing and fixed the shoulder problem.
I think they're both easy to put on, and I think the "undershirt" thing on the 988 is really soft and comfortable. It's the perfect length for me too.
SpaceRace,
The 983 is a three quarter length top i dont need more lines than im already gonna have and im sure i would find it very uncomfortable it would feel like a belly top!!
im very small chested id be border line A-B like!
I want a very good chest compression though i want to be completely flat! i dont necessarily need a tummy compression but if it means a stronger chest compression then i dont mind!
I'm very small chested, too, and I find that the 988 (the only binder I've ever used) gives me a very flat appearance without compromising my breathing. I kinda look like I have pecs when I wear it. I recommend it.
I'm very small-chested but I don't like the long binders unless it's very cold and I'm pretty bundled. The material is smooth enough that my shirt always rides up and what people see under my shirt doesn't look like a normal undershirt at all, which I hate.
If you're very active you might want to consider the tritop or products from other companies. Range of motion and discreet compression are important to me and I'm willing to sacrifice aesthetics to some degree to serve those purposes. If you have a girlfriend or boyfriend you might also want to take into account how your binding feels to them.
Underworks is good with returns if you don't like the way something fits.
I just bought the 997 and it's quite nice. A little hard to get into, but it binds really well. I actually don't like the binders that look more like sports bras. I got one from T-Kingdom and it didn't bind well at all. Then again, I have a somewhat biggish chest, so that could be part of it. But I would be worried that the 988 would do the same thing, wondering if just the chest compression would cover all of my chest.
