Title: Playing basketball
Post by: krakenshay on March 08, 2013, 12:34:45 PM
I'm joining a recreational team in a couple days. While I played since I was 18, I am v. Short for an adult and am worried I will be judged. When I was in high school it didn't bother me that I was short playing ball but transitioning has made the height thing more annoying.

For those who played recreational basketball, did it matter how tall people were? It is recreational I know but I want some reassurance that for the most part people won't be side-eyeing me as I roll up to the court. I'm pretty confident in my skills.

There are, in my area, "Under six-foot" leagues.

In my area pretty much all recreational teams can be competitive but are mostly just for fun! I wouldn't worry about your height at all and just show them how well you can play, I'm sure they'll be happy to have you on the team....and you'll have a ton of fun! Good luck.
