Title: My FFS journey.
Post by: Carolina1983 on March 09, 2013, 04:12:47 AM
Hi all.

I have been away for a while now.. Because I have been really down. Quit my job etc.

I am scared to death about this surgery but I know that I must do it, otherwise I am already dead.

Will go to spain now the 11th March, surgery is planned the 13th. I will go home the 23rd March.

I will keep you guys updated and post pics as soon as possible :).

By the way how can I find my password for susans? I have saved it before and I cant remember it anymore.. A little problem because I cant log in from another computer =/.

I will do the following procedures

Trachea shave

Forehead reconstruction

Orbital rim reconstruction

Nose reconstruction (bone and soft tissue)

Chin shortening and reshaping

Jaw reduction and reshaping.

Well thats about it.

Wish me luck girls :)

Congratulations on your surgeries. I know this will help with your self conference and will pay off for you. Have a safe flight and remember to get plenty of rest and do as the doctor says

Hi, Hon. I'm glad you checked in, and I'm sure the surgery will go well. I'll pass along your concerns about the password situation.

For password trouble:

If she tries to log in with the wrong password, she will get a screen that asks for it again, but has a query "Forgot your password?"

She clicks on that and enters her email address.  Then she will get to reset it.

Thanks for the nice comments and help with the password :). Now I can log in from my laptop too.

I am now finally here in Marbella.

Now I will try to get some sleep and tomorrow will be a busy day at the hospital, x-rays etc.

Update.

So today (day 2) I took the bloodtests and x-rays. I am just about to go and meet the surgeons.

The staff is very friendly and caring. I really dont miss anything right now and that is a good grade because I really dont like being away from home.

Tomorrow at 9 in the morning local time the Surgery will start.

Carolina, I know I haven't posted in any of your threads before now, but I have been diligently reading them this whole time, so I finally felt the need to chime in and just say, I'm really rooting for you in this. I REALLY hope that this surgery is absolutely everything that you hoped it would be, and that you really can finally feel like yourself and feel happy about who you are after it's done. Good luck, girl! And please, keep us updated. We all feel deeply for you, and really want to see you happy.

Lots of love, and again, best of luck!

Carolina,

Looking good brave Sister! May your recovery be speedy & as comfortable as possible. This connection is the next best thing to being there to hold your hand. Our thought are with you. Rest well. Perhaps you can get out & walk the nice looking grounds when you feel up to doing that.

Finally, got some sleep tonight. The day before was pure hell as my throat was irritated because of the tube that I hat during surgery and also the trach shave did not make tings better. I had to struggle to breathe.

My surgery was pretty long, almost 10hrs, alot of bone was removed.

So I am really looking forward to see the results.

Will put up some more pics when I look a little better .:P

Yeah it was not nice to get those things pulled out, it felt like they had put them in my brain.

I can somewhat use my nose to breathe now but its still full of all this blood and stuff, will try to clean it today.

School 2 weeks post op that is something :D. I dont have a job or anything and I am pretty glad about that. I imagine that it will take som time for this to heal and feel comfortable. Because they really removed alot of bone in my face.
Even the surgeons saved the bones for me to see, and it was gross and I was also stunned. So much bone taken away and still it was not all of it.. They grinded down alot too,

just saw this thread now Carolina.
Yep, the first few days are hell!
Youll start feeling back to normal when they take out the stuff from your nose and you can finally breath out of it again, trust.
In the meantime, youve gotta "hurry up and wait." I am like 3 weeks post op and I still have minor bruising on my eye and quite a bit of swelling on my chin and jaw. Despite this I still went to school at only 2 weeks post op. Youll get better!

Thanx :). I am trying to stay strong even if it is hard sometimes. Its not fun right now when the swelling is going bananas in my lower jaw.

Best of thoughts are with you on your recovery. I had to have my nose done a few years back for medical purposes. I feel our pain. Did they just shave your nose or did they give you nose stents? I had to have stents. Those things do not give a slight "pinch" as they pull them out. That ->-bleeped-<- hurt sooooo bad to have removed. anyways, ranting. Much love and recover well!

Cant see much but I got the blood out of my hair.

They did not just shave my nose but broke it on multiple places and reshaped it. I am looking forward to get everything remoed in the end of the coming week.

I have an appointment with a doctor at 1 o clock tomorrow but its a long time until then. Not sure how I will be able to cope.

Well things shall not be easy right.

Carolina,

FWIW, at 10 months, I heard that at 10 months is a little short to criticize yourself if you pass or not, but with your FFS surgery pics, you already look feminine, I think your being too hard on yourself really.

My 2 cents.

Yes I am very hard on myself =/, not sure what to do about that really? I cant stop it.

It is good to hear that I atleast look feminine in these horrible pics, I am really swollen all over.

I hated that guy in the mirror so much and just want him eradicated completely, so every little glimse of him makes me want to scream and shout.

Its is hard to get on camera but yes it seems like they did it. Even now at 7 days people start to look confused :D, it was so funny yesterday. So  I cant wait until the swelling goes down.

Talked to the surgeon yesterday and it took them a little more than 11hrs to complete my face. As I said before I was some case. But it seems that they made it and I am very happy.

The attitude change is welcome for me I can say, I have hated how I looked since puberty kicked in.. But now I start to see the real me again and its such a good feeling :)

I had some surgery on my nose about 5 years ago(can't recall) and I know the feeling of having the padding removed like it is coming from your brain not nice at all. It was to help me breathe more and I went home the next day largely due to me not liking hospitals and felt well enough to go home.

So far all is looking good so fingers crossed it keeps heading that way

Just saw your pics in the fabulous forum, the femme face now, no wonder you are smiling in both pics! I reviewed your early posts when you joined Susan's to get your background and journey. You mentioned since the age of 12 how you hated your male face. I understand how a month ago in your posts about not wanting to go on in life. I posted and I am pleased I sent a pm to you & shared some responses, I was scared you were going to take your life. You managed to get FFS so quickly...now I know why you needed the FFS. To see this huge attitude turn around from not wanting to live to feeling fab and child at Christmas, made me teary eyed with joy that you are now HAPPY! Be proud, & of taking your second huge step to fulfillment and your authentication.

The internet helps shrink the vast distances makes us a little closer, so an ether appreciation that you are in our lives. I hope it will stay that way for a long time. Support & respect to you.

Keep us up on whatever you feel you can share with us.

Yes I have hated myself for so long. I could not look in mirrors or look at pics of myself without feeling disgust.

I tried to kill myself this winter, took an overdose of pills but one of my friends found me. Now I am very happy for that because otherwise I would have missed out on this chance to live.

I know that I am very lucky that I got this chance to go, the money came just in time. It was FFS or die, and I got the better option :).

All of you here on Susans are very important to me, this site and its members kept my hope up.

I have two transwomen friends that have tried several times in different ways to end their lives. Each time either they themselves got them to the hospital or a person discovered them in time. One of them has become a trans activist. We have all been significant to each other in our journeys. This rips me up inside that they want to do this, & I would miss them immensely. Fortunately they are still in my life.

Perhaps you may have been annoyed that your friend saved you, but has given you the destiny for a second chance to physically be the lady you are. Bless your friend. Honor that person for giving you the gift to exist as a Happy lady and we have you as our friend. Your good heart has said here you are sharing your FFS journey to help others. Not only are you important to yourself, you are important to others here. You are showing you have the strength & courage to overcome insecurities and survive. You lead the way. Cherish & respect life.

Love life & the people around you.
