Title: Possible allergic reaction
Post by: Frank on March 09, 2013, 09:23:38 PM
I don't know whether to post this here or not but I can't afford a doctor and don't have anyone else to turn to (and really, who wants to show moob off?) In the past month or two, these little red patches of itchy skin have been multiplying, almost as if they're bug or mite bites but it's winter and there's no bugs to be found anywhere. It looks like a reaction to the binder but I've had that for a couple years now.

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi770.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fxx347%2Fleatherbear24%2FIMG_1881.jpg&hash=d6a6c9da334a24e56fbfbc1506e0d8d2c0228f12)

And if I scratch the moobs, this happens and it refuses to go away for weeks at a time.

So I'm sorry if that's tmi but can anyone help even a little bit?  :-\

Try Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and see if that helps.

Sometimes it takes a long time for guys to start having binder issues, so it could be binder-related. Do you wear anything under the binder? What is the binder made of? Have you changed detergents recently?

I used to have massive eczema problems (HRT is great for getting rid of some things), and I used hydrocortisone cream. Winter was a classic season for skin irritation...so was summer.

I wear it directly against my skin since I'm already wearing three layers at a time. It's a standard short style underworks binder and no. There's a possibility that all the exercise I've been doing has been an...irritant? I'll try a shirt under it while working out.

I used to wear an Underworks Cotton Concealer because of my skin issues. This binder is mostly Spandex on the inside, but the outer layer is something like 90% cotton. So I simply turned it inside out, and I didn't have allergy problems. That's really the only binder I could wear. So putting a t-shirt under a regular binder sounds like a plan to try.

Have you washed it in new detergent? Thats what it looks like to me is a skin reaction from a detergent that doesn't go well with your skin. Also you you spray on body spray , that might also be the issue. Could also be a new deodorant. I'm just throwing stuff out there cause i have very fair irish skin that is sensitive.

I didn't know this was an Irish trait...that might explain my lifelong problems. I think I definitely inherited the Irish teeth, though!

You got rid of eczema with HRT? How long did it take for you? I would be happy for the same result  :)
