I had my first endo appointment yesterday, and it was great. The doctor is awesome and he's comfortable with non-binary non-straight folks, which is important for me since I'm neither binary nor straight. I got some really good suggestions for possible treatment pathways, and he is totally on board with dealing with the things that cause me the biggest problems first. And he's going to hook me up with a trans-friendly gynaecologist.
I don't have T yet, because he's worried that giving me T will do unpredictable and horrible things to my internal organs. I'm cool with that, because I really don't want an uncontrollable haemorrhage. I do, however, have a bunch of tests scheduled for intersex. Apparently, there is definitely some type of sex development disorder present, which at least makes a nice change from previous doctors' assessments of "that's normal, bugger off and take a paracetamol". Nope, this guy agrees that "normal" is not the right word to describe my internal organs and they are the first thing that needs to be dealt with. And since my malfunctioning internal organs are my biggest source of dysphoria, this is something else we can agree on.
I have progress. My god it feels good to have progress!
It's always great to have progress. Congrats! :)
Nice. Hope your organs are okay, though. Things can only get better.
Congrats Mosaic, I hope things downstairs are OK though. :)
Thanks guys!
My downstairs organs aren't "okay" as such, but they have no business being inside a man anyway so it's not as if I'll miss them :) And this way I have treatment options so the problem will get sorted.
Mosaic dude, good you have found endo and GYN drs that can help you finding out what your situation is. I hope you can get to the point of being able to take T. Do you have normal periods now, about one a month?
Thanks mm! in answer to your question, no. My cycle runs anywhere between 4 weeks and 6 months, though it's generally somewhere around 3 months. It's too random to predict and what happens couldn't be described as normal. Unless I medicate with progestogens, I bleed til I pass out for 2 weeks. But I have had doctors tell me that was normal in the past. ::)
I will get my T eventually, but I completely understand why the endo is taking a cautious route.
