Title: What's like a packer package but not?
Post by: AdamMLP on March 14, 2013, 12:16:16 PM
I didn't know whether to put this in the ftm gear bit or not, but as it's more of a general question than a packer one I thought I'd stick it here. More people tend to look here as well and I've not got long to have an excuse ready if need be.

I've bit the bullet and ordered a Mr limpy xs which is should arrive in 3-5 days. Hopefully that means it should arrive during the week when my mother's not around because she's sometimes the nosy one about what I've ordered, but if my dad gets hold of the post first he just chucks it up the stairs for me to find when I get home. I'm just a little worried that she will somehow get her hands on it and ask what it is.

The packaging is discreet but I've heard about  them sometimes arriving (from companies in general) in just a jiffy bag, so I need something that size and squish, because 'oh just a book/game' isn't going to cut it. What's boring and like a packer? All I can think of is a strange sponge, but having never handled a real packer I've no better ideas.

Entirely unconnected, if a bank thought your card was stolen they'll contact you, right? I had to ask for a new card today because of the crack in mine and the woman clearly did not believe that the card was mine because I've not changed my name. She said the address on file didn't match the one I told her either, but it clearly does because I changed it (after being told that the card wasn't mine yet again) in the summer and all my statements since have my current address on. I suggested my old address but she didn't respond. I didn't think about showing my DL until after I left, and she didn't say that I had stolen it flat out, but I'm worried that she just didn't want to provoke me or something.

Socks? Though I've never had a packer arrive in a bag, always a box.

I've had some arrive in a padded envelope.  Stress/squishy ball, hackey sack (maybe get one ahead of time so you can show her), socks, pet toy, etc.

You could say that it's one of those giant vat gummies...but I'd be afraid that she might want to see it XD.

I was thinking, would a tube of glue/paint work?  It needs to be something pretty boring and for college so she won't be remotely interested in having a look.  As long as it doesn't come after 4pm or on Saturday I should be alright though.

you could always go the other way and joke around and say well mum if you really must know its a giant dick.
or if she is rude enough to open it say its a gag gift from a mate

I think that a tube of glue or paint would be a little firmer than a packer. If it comes in a padded bag/envelope, it might be fairly easy to guess what was inside if you were nosy enough... though it depends on how tight the packaging is. They're very squishy, so some kind of small stuffed toy might work?

Whatever you pick, act cool. Just act like it's a regular pack of socks/paint and she probably won't even care.
