Title: some questions
Post by: Apple on May 25, 2007, 02:36:08 PM
I really tried seeking information about this in the internet but I just don´t find any answer on it ... So i wondered if someone here might help me out.
I´ve friends that go or have been going through gender-changes. some of them told me that disorders such as the psychothic ones (schizophrenia for example) and eating-disorders affect the decisions of doctors whether to agree or disagree with hormone-treatments ect. for example a friend of mine was denied starting his testo-treatment before he wouldn´t gain weight ect. does anyone know how serious this is? I have these mental issues and I don´t know how or when I possibly get rid of them, even after years of therapies. I´d particulary like to know about the stuff about eatingdisorders. and is it true that people that tend to be aggressive are denied testo as well?
oh well sorry for all the ranting and thanks a bounch if anyone can help out!

Apple, I think that this is something that is so dependent on the doctor. the individual and their unique situation that it's impossible to answer your question.

I have not heard of eating disorders being something that keeps a person from getting HRT but I suppose it's quite possible.

I think testosterone would make you hungry and want to gain weight anyway, it certainly did that for me when I was a teen.

I wish I could be more helpful.

no you have been helpful. I´m thought that maybe there were some kind of "ruls" or "laws" about these kind of things , it´s great to hear that doctors consider individual situations. that reliefes me a lot.
thank you
