So im off hormones for financial reasons. Recently i have been starting to have some symptoms of having a dvt in my calf. Im wondering, if it turns out to be a dvt, could this kill my transition all together, or are there still options for hrt and transition?
Hi Kariann,
I can't comment on the symptoms of DVT, a medical professional would be best for that conclusion. However, there are option for HRT and transition.
Implants of micronised oestrogen and progesterone are widely available. They bypass the liver and are absorbed straight into the bloodstream. According to my Endo, they offer no risk related to DVT. They also provide a very constant delivery of the product, giving the most efficient delivery.
Hope things improve for you.

The problem from a medical point of view is that you're 29 and have a DVT.
You need to understand that every medical procedure carries risk.
There is a standard assessment, always made, even for aspirin. Does the benefit outweigh the risk? If yes, then the procedure can go ahead.
It's that simple really.
Now, if you have a problem which could put you at greater risk with the procedure, then only a totally callous and unprofessional Dr would do it.
If the reasons why you have the DVT are traceable, and manageable then the procedure can go ahead.
Tests were done and im good....just some pulled muscles and tendons.
Hi Kariann,
Great news to hear. Thank you for letting us know. You can now move forward feeling a lot better in yourself.

That is wonderful news.
Not about the discomfort, of course, but you know what I mean.
When the muscle heals you can dance a jig.
