Title: Supreme Court & Mariage
Post by: peky on March 27, 2013, 01:45:32 PM
So it seems that things may go our way folks...one more blow to the Conservatives...and another triumph for the Obama administration and the Democratic party..
QuoteWASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court wrapped up a second day of arguments on gay marriage, as Justice Anthony M. Kennedy and the court's liberal justices appeared headed toward striking down the part of the Defense of Marriage Act that denies federal benefits to legally married gay couples.

But anyway it's pretty good news but I think it should be a matter left to the individual states and if married in one state the other's should recognize it much like our driver's licenses.

But then again, I think kind of like Gene Simmons used to when it comes to marriage.

I don't believe half the country are bigots, nor do I believe they come from just one end of the political spectrum.

You sure got that right. In man mode during my "travelling days", the left sees me as as a non educated redneck, yeah I got a truck with 4 wheel drive, and have actually gotten meaner looks and smarta#$ remarks in places like California, New York and other so called liberal places. But I can be in Texas at a Walmart buying nail polish, lotion and other femme things and maybe a glance or two but no mean looks or remarks. Just pay for it and leave. I guess the old saying is true about judging a book by it's cover. At least about me anyway.

Ok, folks, I've cleaned up a whole bunch of name calling. Please attempt to make your points without taking the low road. Thanks, Devlyn

I'm hoping it goes back to states' rights all the way through. Personal feeling here, creating a new permanent "homophobe" pariah class would be just as bad as a ruling strengthening DOMA to outlaw the thing completely. We need a "live and let live" ruling, not a "My opinion is right now shut up" one.
