Title: Gender change on fingerprint clearance cards
Post by: bobtheapple on March 29, 2013, 06:30:56 PM
So I've googled around a little for information on changing things on this piece of documentation, but I haven't found much of anything, so I was wondering if anyone here could give me a hand.

I work as a nanny for a family who has recently applied to do foster/refugee care. As a part of this process, all adults in the household are required to have a level 1 fingerprint clearance card. I've already been approved (this was prior to my gender change on my state ID, and I've yet to change my name, so the card currently has female and my birth name on it). The card includes name, gender, hair colors, and basically a lot of the same things as a licence, sans a picture. Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has changed their gender on a fingerprint clearance card, what it may require, and if they had any issues with it. I live in Arizona, if that makes a difference to anyone.

I'm just not sure if I should really bother trying to pursue the change if it might make things harder for the family I work for. I obviously don't live in the most trans friendly state, if you've read the news recently... but I also see that it could lead to a lot of issues if I ever need to bring it up, and I'll need to inform them of the name change regardless.

Has anyone dealt with this, or is it one of those more obscure pieces of documentation?

Can you get a new one (I'm assuming your legal ID matches your proper gender)?  The only compilation I can see might be if your fingerprints are actually on file (just doing a fingerprint check doesn't put your fingerprints on file).

I'd probably call the state and ask.
