Title: Neck and shoulder feminization?
Post by: asi on March 30, 2013, 12:57:33 AM
Hi Everybody

I am a 32 years old transgender m2f ,1 Year on hormones..

do you know any procedures that can reduce the  width of the neck and also feminize the shape of the shoulders?

If you can refer me to surgeons  or to data sources in that field, i would be very great full to you.

I'm almost positive there are no surgeries that will do that, especially not the neck. I'm pretty sure it's all about what HRT does to your muscles...

Maybe not what you want to hear, but there are a lot of women with broad shoulders. It may not be the ideal of beauty but there is absolutely nothing unfeminine about broad shoulders.

Oh if only there was a way to reduce my neck size. But while you can reduce fat, generally speaking it is near impossible to get rid of muscle.

Three cheers for lazy, muscle-free bums? :D

Those areas can't really be worked on, as far as I know. What you're going to have to do is, learn how to use clothing and jewelry to best effect. There is a clothing section in the Wiki here, and possibly the CD section may have good answers for this (since they don't do hormones and have to deal 100% with male body features)

I've researched this before. There are no procedures for shoulder reduction, or surgeons crazy enough to carry out the operation for that matter. It's a part of the body designed to bare intense loads, and is a major part of the skeletal system. Anyone who got their shoulders surgically reduced would probably never recover from it either as far as I can tell. Hormones can reduce muscle mass in that area which can make them look smaller and in some cases where the muscles are really big, pull the bones close together... Probably not by a lot though.

As for your neck, that's probably all muscle, in which case hormones should affect it too. I've never heard of anyone having a thick neck because of their spine being too wide. But, don't just rely on hormones though. If you adjust your diet and reduce your protein intake, that could reduce muscle as well.

Hope this helps!

One thing I've found that helps the neck, is to always always remember posture.

Stand (or sit) tall, like someone is pulling your head to the ceiling. This tends to stretch the neck, making it longer relative to its width = smaller neck.

If you're heavy-ish, losing weight will also reduce the upper torso and neck area (and the face, too). Do cardio workouts for this.

It is possible to lose some muscle mass in the neck area.  The old body building rule of thumb is if you can gain mass in a muscle group, you can also lose it.

A posing "trick" of angling your shoulders can help give the appearance of narrowing.  (Let me add, though, I don't find wide shoulders on a woman the least bit manly.  Just thick of Olympic swimmers.)

^^ This. Imagine you have a string on the top of your head at the back pulled up. Head tilted slightly face down, not too much, shoulders very relaxd and a little back. It makes a bih big difference.

Hehe, do you know how often I am asked if I did professional swimming or weight lifting because of my wide shoulders? And I honestly without lying can say that I did regular swim training and swimming in a competitive setting as a teen. They dont have to know that this was a complete failure and that i had to use the boys locker room at that time :P

Wow.  Do the same rules apply as normal corsetry in terms of how long lasting it is etc? That could be kinda cute tho.
