It may seem like a waste but now that it is Summer, I need to get my hair cut. Originally I was going to grow it down to my butt before doing so. However, it appears that it is going to be really hot this season and I could do with the extra weight being lopped off. Not too much mind you, I still want to keep it long. Oh and dyeing it a different colour. :)
How short do you think you'll go?
I've been sitting here debating it too... I have a blunt, bob cut which SO does not work for me. I want it layered everywhere, and tapered back off my face. But mine isn't real long yet, a couple inches below the chin.
What colour were you thinking of?
I SO badly want to go reddish-brown, but my wife put her foot down and said if I steal her hair colour too, she's leaving me.

I would dye it brownish red then, just to be safe :P
During the summer it is over 100 almost every day (Southern California high desert area). I just put my hair into a ponytail, that keeps it off my neck and I don't get as hot (it is down to my waist).

I had about 3.25" trimmed off of it. It had reached just about to the small of my back before so I will probably have it down to the butt by the time fall rolls in. I only pop in to have my hair cut about twice a year and then it is usually just to lop off any split ends (which are rare, but they do pop up every so often).
Color. Going from blonde to pitch black. It really does not go with the skin tone but screw it, I want a change. I figure I will let it stay black for the duration of the Summer and then go to a strawberry blonde in the fall. then by this time next year, it will be my natural, multi colored blonde hair (ash blonde, dark blonde, dark red, and even a few black strands). I had a coworker who used to pay big bucks to get the same multi-tone hair so I guess I am lucky. To be honest, I used to hate it and would dye it all to one blonde colour but then I guess you could say that it grew on me. ;)
Its very hard to go from pitch black to blond quickly without messing up your hair (if you have long ones , you don't want to do that). I did the same thing, off black (my natural color is off black or darkest brown, not quite sure which), and it took me 6 months to be light again (level 7 red with level 8 copper blond highights, level 7 is usually considered (medium), level 9 (light)), I went slowly.
Did you do it already? Wouldn't it have been better to go for a warm rich darker brown (level 4 maybe). Then, going back to blond is much quicker, easier and less risky.
I just hit black, I will worry about the rest later on. The box was labeled Natural Black and it is absolutely pitch black. I wore a shirt that would highlight the new colour quite well. :)
I did this once before and I used a very light blonde dye to get it much lighter and then months later used something closer to my natural colour. My hair will hold colour, but only for a short period of time.
A coworker told me that it was quite dramatic and looks good. :)
Well I went out to lunch with him today. He was surprised with the hair and surprised at how much he liked it. He admitted that he had been wrong to forbid me dyeing my hair black when the relationship was there. We had a good lunch, discussed many things and I really enjoyed his company.
