That is the correct expression by the way :)
Applied to our reality, the proof of the pudding, or the proof of a person, is in how they act.
There are a lot of people in our lives, and they all like to think a lot about themselves.
Family, extended family, co workers, friends, politicians, religious communities. They all like to talk the talk, but you really see a person for who they really are when they get told to walk the walk.
I've watched family members give other family members grief over something, and then life treats them to some serious embarrassment, and suddenly 'ahh so you are not as good as you thought you were'. It's revealing when you see them backpedal.
Friends and co workers, they can talk so much talk, but it's only when they get made to actually take a stand at their potential expense that you learn your real allies.
Politicians, well I can't think of anything nice to be honest. Politicians are in it for the votes. They'll tell you anything just so long as you vote for them. The moment you have nothing to give them, they have no use for you. I am not attaching much interest in specific names in political news.
Religion, well clearly some people in religion are not what they claim to be. Well when measured against their own self proclaimed ideals. I know of a few Christians that I think are incredible people. It's because they go about it in a way that makes them look good, not the opposite. Jesus is supposed to have been all about unconditional acceptance. But it seems his fan club always get tripped up over that detail.
Here's a salute to anyone, that actually DOES measure up to their own ideals.
Because the world is sadly very full of very deluded people, who are not walking the walk.
1 seriously real friend, someone that genuinely WILL be there for you, is worth all the rest of the people in the world if they can't be.
