Title: A bit about myself and my orchi (had on 4/8/2013) NKY and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Post by: RoShell on April 09, 2013, 03:45:41 AM

I had my orchi done today (4/8/2013)

By DR James Donavon University Hospital, Cincinnati Ohio.

Past information: started HRT at 14 years old in Kentucky. Gender Psychology done at IC college with DR. Hatfield (12-18 years old) and a few others after I turned 18. My family, husband and I, also did therapy (1 on one, group, and couples ) for a 4 years. In 2003 I decided that my 36 natural DD breasts was to small and I wanted a lift, so I did breast augmentation with DR. Koy in NKY on Turkeyfoot road ( Mangot, Koy plastic surgery center), I have had some facial reconstruction also ( due to a car accident in 1997).
Being a transsexual for so long, as many know I am sure nothing is a quick fix.
So after the debate for many years, I finally decided to get a orchieotomy. I had checked for a bit, then finally my reproductive endo in Lexington, Ky (Dr. Tannock ) gave me the info for this surgeon in Cincinnati, Ohio (Dr. James Donavon) whom I made a consultation with. His office staff and assistance in answering all my questions was just awesome! He made me feel safe and secure in my decision (which to me is the utmost importance to have) to go on with my orchi. So I set the date for the following Monday.
So Sunday night after 12am as  usual for surgery no food, gum or water was ingested. I had been off aspirin, fish oil, vitamins, spire, or diuretic (3days) for 14 days prior to surgery.    So Monday came around. I was scheduled for surgery at 2 pm. However they called that am to see if I could be earlier. We ( husband, parents and I) arrived about 12:40pm.I was a tad nervous but so was my family. At 1pm I filled all pre-surgical requirements gave.copies of my living will and poa (power of attorney) incase something happened.
About 1:30 my nurse came and got us, I was put into my oh so sexy butt hanging out gown, socks  and hair net. The IV was introduced to my left arm and solution started. Thinking I would be going to OR pretty fast. But, I ended up setting with my family waiting.a little over 4 hours. At about 5:40, DR Donavon came in the room, making sure I had no questions and explain the.procedure to myself and family more indepth. From that point I waited about 50 minutes longer and seen the anesthesiologist before I was pushed into a or room.
As I was in OR my family went to the cafateria for some food and drink (was told the food was horrible and expensive..
The surgery started at 7 pm, 2 incisions was made on the scrotum and the testicles was removed. It took about 40 minutes to an HR. After whic :-\h I was sewn up and tight panties was put on. (brought my own so I didn't have to pay the hospital 60$ for a jock strap.. At 8:30 I was woken up. As the.Surgeon went and talked with my family letting them know all went smooth.. The nurses started bringing me water and ice chip. I asked for my mom and husband, they.told me it would be a HR before they can come back. When I look up and see my mom walking in. She seen me being wheeled into my room. They asked her how she got in, her answer was through the doors. LOL
They said she couldn't stay back in recovery then DR Donavon said she was fine, she kept me calm. Yes I had a panic attack they said. So about 10-10:20 I was released to go home. Such a long day and starving, we went to the pharmacy got script (pain med) filled. Then was out of their. The drive home was very painful. Each little bump felt like knives in my lower half. Even tho I took a pain med 10 minutes before discharge, it didn't kick in till I got home. ( I suggest asking for it then waiting a hour)..

Payment :
anthem paid 100%

Letters:
not required due to my length in transition. However I still had 6 (therapist, 2 psychologist, psychiatrist,my primary care Dr, and HRT Dr.

Sorry its so long winded. But its a brief history on myself and my doctors... Blessings on all doing these surgeries and transformation to be themselves..

If others wish info on my Endo, surgeons or other things just ask. I am unsure if I can post links on this site.

When I had mine, it was in his office and I was awake and chatting with some medical interns.  45 Minutes later I went home with some pain meds.

Cool, I had some pain on the way home not much after we got off the road construction.area. today I feel good on a 1-10 scale I'm aiit a 2. No bleeding and walking normal etc. I wish I did this before my breast augmentation. but i believe things happen when they are  meant to happen..
Are you finished now (postop)? I will be talking to a few surgeons over the next 2 years for final surgery.. I plan on having  it done  after I am finished with college.

Congratulations RoShell,

I had my orchi about two months ago. It really brings inner calm and peace, doesn't it?

I must say, I was also lucky in that I never really had any pain. It was a little uncomfortable for a couple of days but no there is no pain at all.

No unfortunately I am not done.  I am hoping to be within the next couple of years.  If not, I could live with it.

Cool Megan, I have been one week today and feel great. I  was really scared at first to get it done, however since I've had it done, I have felt at peace with myself and body. It was a good choice I made for myself. But soon back to the salt mines of school and work. But my job and school know what I had done.

Ms. Obrien,
yeah My insurence paid 100% of this and will also pay for GRS in a year. I hope to find a great local DR. in that time. If it wasn't for that, unsure I could afford it at this time.

RoShell, I'm so happy for you & your smart choice.

This should be very helpful to only continue E for your body to grow & change normally.

I've scheduled this simple procedure so many times however I was never smart enough to complete this easy step & regret it.

My best to you & good luck as your new life moves forward,

Francis
