I'm not entirely sure to go about this. I haven't been in a position to swim since just shortly after I started HRT and at that point I didn't have boobs or anything so I just went in with swim trunks though it was kind of embarrassing still.
At the point when you're completely out about being trans and are primarily living that way and potentially have been on HRT for a while, what swimsuit do you wear?
I'm pre-op so should I just wear swim trunks and a bikini top? Or should I just try to hide it and go full blown female attire? This is more of a question just in general, because I'm curious.
For me at least...I would be tempted to wear swimming trunks and a top. I would just be deathly afraid that something would "slip out of place". Although, then again swimming trunks and a top does naturally fit my gender expression (androgynous)...so maybe that's part of why I would choose the trunks...idk
I would just sport a one piece with a sarong
And take off sarong for water...classy...
But hey I do come from Vancouver lol..almost a right
Of passage to ->-bleeped-<- a Tgirl I think sometimes lol...
But I also like the idea of nice tight super short shorts and a
Tank top...
Vancouver is different....used to be over run with us literally
So different culture for me....
I am pre-op (2 years HRT)... and I have worm a womans swimsuit, only worm a one piece in public before. I was worried too that something would slip..
Tuck properly and be careful that what I did, no accidents.
Being transdrogynous I went to the beach last summer in a pair of hot shorts and pondered what to wear on top and opted for a cotton A shirt at the last minute. Big mistake, when I decided to take a dip and came back out I probably could have been a close runner-up at a wet shirt contest. My spouse was horrified and a lot of onlookers were more than curious. In retrospect it was probably a very humorous situation but at the time is was sooo embarrassing! :icon_redface:
I hear some transwomen buys special dress-swimsuit to hide the thing there.

A nice one piece & tuck away!!! Just go for it. Maybe take a matching skirt as backup.
Have fun, don't forget a big hat, bag, magazine to read, good sunglasses, etc...

Yes, so far the best plan yet!
I wear a 2 piece now but that's only because thanks to the help of my mom and Ana I lost all my weight :)
I also use to worry about the classic mayday. Don't want anything slipping out
This is gonna be my swim outfit for Lake Tahoe this summer, I can't really do the bottoms so I will just wear a denim skirt over them and maybe wear a sarong or cover up while wandering around the beach.
This should work good while on my paddle board also.

I've heard great things about swim skirts, too. Still really cute, but prevents any mishaps of the nether regions. :p
Wow, some of you are pretty brave o.o. I'm envious.
Also I COMPLETELY forgot about swim skirts. That is an awesome idea >.<
It's great to go to the beach normal. I've always tucked, stuff kinda small anyway, kinda normal, sometimes use some tape if I need to make sure of no problems.
Life is too short not to have some girl fun in the sun!!!

This is a gaf from Amazon.com and is best to wear under the swimsuit bottom for non-op trans women with concerns.

nice find Shan! good idea :)
Hmm... What about not-out gals with ... Noticeable ... Development? How does one hide the girls in swimwear? v_v
Zoe you're prob not going to be able to. But a lot depends on nipple size as much as breast size. I've had boobage my whole life but before I started HRT, because my nipples were really small they didn't look like boobs. But now with nipple growth (plus they're kinda rounding out at the bottom), I'm worried I'd get arrested if I took my shirt off at the beach. I don't exactly know when it becomes indecent exposure. A thick, black shirt or top will hide them best. If it get's wet, the skin won't show thru, and it'll slim the shape of them, making them appear smaller. This is what I have done in the past.
Also, everything Tessa said.

I've got that same thing, Joanna - as far as lifetime gynecomastia is concerned. They're basically on the small end of B's right now.
I figure if anyone asks what I'm doing in the ladies' section of the mall I can threaten to remove my shirt. :)

Yeah it used to be something that really bothered me especially when my friends point them out. Now they are more like assets in my transition. The stairs have become my enemy lol and i can't scamper down the stairs anymore. I don't think anyone would ask what you're doing in the women's section. Though I know the worry. We always expect the worst.
BTW, you you avatar looks really good. You're looking a lot more femme. :-)

This is wrong on so many levels.......
I have natural small b's myself but my nips are very long, definetly not a male trait at all and they get very very pokie when cold in a tshirt, I gave up many years ago trying to hide them and just dealt with the stares while in boy mode my whole life.
So for my lunch break I decided to see how my bikini bottoms look this year...gotta love California sun :)
I guess I might be able to pull it off as long as I wear shorts or something while walking around,

I was out in a two peice at a beach club with lots of guys/girls. Big party atmosphere. I was only at like 4-5 months of HRT. Basically, you gotta tape it. It will keep everything in check. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GO INTO THE WATER OR DANCE/SWEAT EXCESSIVELY. The glue from the tape will lose its stick. Then guess what happens... Yup. I had a "slip up" on stage dancing (THANK GOD ONLY MY BEST FRIEND WHOSE KNOWN ME SINCE I WAS 4 NOTICED). She said I was having a wardrobe malfunction. I knew right away and ran to the washroom and re-taped. One other girl noticed though, and she told her friend, who told her friend. They were all beyond wasted so instead of OMG they were like "Wow your so brave" "hey your hotter than me" "oh wow I was actually so jealous of your looks when I first met you." Flattering at first but kinda annoying after 2-3 hours.
When everyone sobered up later that night it was an akward drive home (to say the least). ::)
wow girl im sorry. at least they all reacted in a good way. soon you wont ever have to worry about that again though. so there is a bright side
Thanks for posting the topic.
In a nice one piece I bought a week or so ago at goodwill, I look & feel pretty good, got a little sun. I just tuck & it works fine/smooth. Passable at some beach if no one looks too close.

I have to laugh. :D That used to be my strategy, too. But we live pretty far from the beach, we swim in our backyard pool, so the public exhibition hasn't been the case for me. But it is just the same as wearing a revealing light colored top when out and about in public, and I have had plenty of those embarrassments.
Now I am getting large enough on top that a conventional one piece swim suit with a built in bra is appealing. We will see, once summer is here for real.
I wear a 2 piece bikini. I'm not on hormones yet but my body is pretty femine cause my measurements are 32"25"35". I'm not worried about anything slipping because I tuck like carmen carrera does so it looks like I have a vagina and I can also make myself have cleavage.
Generous, Love your profile picture, such nice breasts & a lovely woman. Have fun in the sun, I wear a simple one piece, but rarely go to public beaches these days, maybe one day I can 100% normal.
I wore one of those "skirted" suits in the past... but I'll be a year post-op by the time it's fully beach weather around here, and I'm looking forward to wearing my first two-piece with a skimpy bottom. :)

Good for you Jenna Marie, I bet you will look just marverlous!
Thanks, Francis Ann! I doubt it, but I'll feel marvelous, which is good enough. :)
I cant go Sunnning this year :'(
Doing laser all year sniffle sniffle
And not sure If I can do a swim suit nor sure if
I have the confidence for it
Last summer, when I was just over 1 year on HRT, I bought a swimsuit that had not only a skirt but pockets for breastforms.
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1088.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fi329%2Fcam94080%2Fswimsuit3.jpg&hash=f3663dc83ee56f7146dbc285ce5acaff44a1a5de)
I used small enhancer forms only with it, and I don't tuck (the idea of tucking give me the heebee-jeebies).

I would think that unless you wore a gaff you'd come untucked in a hurry if you actually went for a swim. That suit works Constance, you wouldn't have to tuck in that type of swimsuit anyway.

If only I were as gorgeous as she is!

The only thing Sophia and I have in common is our birthday :) I've always liked that though!
Thankfully I live in a country, where wearing a swimsuit is possible perhaps for a few days in a year. So there is not even a temptation for me to wear it.
There is of course the public swimming halls, but I cannot imagine of going there, as you would be in close quarter with other women. Everybody else naked and you wearing the swimsuit, for which you get a permission to wear on all times, even at sauna.
It just would feel strange, even when I know that many transwomen do go to the swimming halls.
Angélique, ok i'll take the bait: what are your recommendations to get a gorgeous camel toe?
TIA,
Karla

Very conservative and rather smart, yes that would work well!
If you're young i would just tuck and wear short shorts + bikini top.
that's honestly the safest route for any t-girl..
young girls dont really wear swim skirts... those are more for the older women.

Well, I guess I been told. :D I'll be 44 this year so, yeah, the "frumpy" look prolly works better for me. It helps that I like that look too.
Little one piece with built in short skirt is easy, simple. The sun feels good today.
