Title: water leak after shower/swim?
Post by: milktea on April 12, 2013, 09:02:25 AM
Not that I've gone swimming yet but I do notice a little after shower leak. Does anyone experience water trapped in the vagina after a swim/bath/shower? I know this can happen briefly for women post delivery, due to the vagina muscle being stretched. Does that mean by the same analogy that srs patients will have the same problem but on a permanent basis??

Yep, and it happens to cis women too, even ones who haven't recently delivered babies. (Don't forget that the vulva can trap water as well, so a bit of apparent "leaking" can just be droplets working their way out from in there. I have *the most annoying* issue with going to pee and having a drop or two lurk in there no matter how carefully I wipe... my wife just laughed and said that's normal.) Probably depends on personal anatomy for every woman.

My hospital discharge instruction sheet mentions that I can expect to have some vaginal discharge for quite a while after the seams have healed.  Because I managed to get an industrial strength yeast infection I was told how to very carefully dry off all parts of the vaginal area I could get to, even to using a hair dryer.  I still got discharge with the special drying, and get some even now.  I just change underpants about 3 times a day, grumble, and go on with it.

I will admit this is something I have to deal with as well

Yes - I just keep some pads in my purse at all times.  I only leak a reasonable amount if I had a bath (not a shower) and I don't even notice it every time.  There are definitely some muscles I can relax to let the water run out, though (kegel?) and if I do that right after a bath I'll only get a tiny amount of residual water leaking later.

After swimming it hasn't been a problem at all.

Got to admit I've never noticed anything.  Will have to keep an eye out next time I go swimming.   :-\

I was having problems with only a part of my douche coming out for a few days, due to swelling.

But, I waited a bit to let it do it's thing, and then inserted the catheter back in, without the syringe attached.  This allowed the remaining douche to find a way out.  It took a bit of up and down, twist all around, to get it all.

I am 10 weeks post op now and i still leak after shower/bath and douching , Although i have got it just about sorted by squeezing using my vaginal muscles to expel most of the water etc.
I do have a nappy rash there to and some days i leak right through my pads and knickers so several changes a day are required.
And i leak a mixture of water, plasma from the rash and small amounts of creamy yellow liquid.
although it is getting better now.

Can't say I ever had that problem - don't know why. I was swimming a lot a couple of months after surgery and never leaked. Now after sex is a different story!

It happens with cisparts sometimes.  I think it just gets thirsty.  ;)

ROFL!

The only time I 'leak' is after sex - quite annoying because it goes on for HOURS!
