Title: Fibroadenoma and top surgery
Post by: Mr.X on April 25, 2013, 01:03:23 PM
I was wondering if any of you guys had Fibroadenoma before top surgery. And if so, did this influence the results?
In case you don't know what Fibroadenoma is, its tissue in the breasts that form lumps. It seems a lot of cis women have it, and it never really is an issue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibroadenoma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibroadenoma)). I also have some in both breasts, and was wondering if this will complicate top surgery. Or perhaps T will take care of them beforehand?

I did not have that condition, but being most of the tissue is removed I will take a guess and assume it should not matter all that much and most likely the surgeon would opt to remove the lumpier tissue for best visual results.  I was unable to find a single article other than yours with this concern, so it looks like you're gonna be the one to break the ice for it!  Get in contact with a surgeon and just see what they say-- if it would complicate it. Many can be emailed online, that at least will let you know if you are in for a longer surgery (1/2-1 hour? tops?) or if additional screening is needed prior.

Unless severe, it is not really an issue. I have the same.
