Title: General Miffedness with Tucson
Post by: Little Red Alt Girl on April 29, 2013, 02:27:46 AM
I currently reside in the very very hot and discomfortable (I know its not a word I like it better than uncomfortable) Tucson Arizona. But that is not beef I have with the city and state in general. I find that the trans community is rather large with various gender creative people occupying the community. I find transmasculine and transmen of all ages in spades. But when I want to find transwomen my age (22) you know someone I relate to really well personally on a similar age level, I cant seem to find them at all. It seems like the trans women are either twee and still debating that they want to be Princess Jasmine or Ariel for their Elementary School Halloween Celebration or they are old enough to be either of my mums and think all my problems make them feel old and find all of my interests to be juvenile (well they are but I digress.)

Then there is you know me (waves hi from my little part of the spectrum) the Film Student who just so happens to be a transwoman of 22 that enjoys salted lemon spinach in place of popcorn (the stuff is awful and it gets stuck in my teeth) whilst watching really good classic cinema and then in the same night we could watch and vigorously quote Mean Girls, A Cinderella Story, eating junk food and swoon over Chad Micheal Murray (for seriously though I could die happily if he showed up at my door and said hi to me.) But yeah that's just me living in my tiny fraction of the world.

Hi, actually when I'm not in Los Angeles, I'm in Tucson.  I never really felt at home with Tucson, me and my mom and sister came here because of the bad economy and the high housing prices in California.  There's SAGA, but somehow I never felt connected to the Tucson TG Community and that the groups meet (for transwomen) only the first two mondays (which I always have trouble following because I'm used to meetings on Thursdays and Fridays) and in L.A. we would go out after the meetings.

I'm currently staying in Tucson now btw, If you'd like to talk.

Oh my gosh Katelyn I am actually totes from LA . I was born in East LA, My aunt was adopted me and moved us to Rowland Heights when I was 9 years old. I moved to Tucson for school, I am a Film and Media Studies Major. I was talking to my therapist and she was telling me that Saga was mainly consisting of older woman getting together and that Pride Alliance was where younger Trans people congregated. Unfortunately, I don't go to the U of A any more (I go to ASU Online) and when I did there were really only about 4 trans people including myself three of whom were transmen and the rest of the student populations filled the LGB and Q portions of the community. But yeah I totally would love to hang out and be friends!!!!! This is so exciting!!
