Title: Thick Waisted
Post by: Shantel on April 29, 2013, 03:00:32 PM
One problem that so many MtF people encounter is having a naturally thick waist. I am one who could have doubled for a fire plug at one time but set my mind to lose a lot of weight and get really fit. I lost a good sixty pounds and worked out daily at the local fitness center, changed my diet, even hired a fitness consultant, but alas I am just rather thick waisted like so many male born human beings. I also had some awful love handles that I had assumed would only go via liposuction. Eventually the fitness center became so filthy and in disrepair that I quit and bought myself a rowing machine back in January for a full body and cardio workout all in one. http://www.waterrower.com/ (http://www.waterrower.com/) Since that time I use it daily and have experienced along with the help of HRT some rather stunning waist definition and the gawd awful love handles are disappearing rapidly. This isn't about me really, I wanted others to know what the answer to the thick waist problem is. The girl trainer in the photo is what I set as my goal. It will never happen but it gives me a target to focus on and beats having no goal at all.

You'll just have to wear clothes that are loose on the bottom. It happens...

Like a fashion designer told me, "I design lots of clothes for every day women... not all of us are petite and extremely narrow!"

Well, there is a thread out there where all the "girls" self-reported waists are in the 25 to 28 inches range...maybe it is a generational thing with us baby-boomer's being thick waisted....either that  or the girls in the other thread are using the wrong measuring tape..LOL

Now, seriously speaking, at least in the USA, go to any mall and you will see all kind of women, from thin to thick to very thick to ultra thick waist.....so, come on, girls...reality check...

Now, having said that, I applaud the effort of any girl to eat well and excercise to achieve an svelte figure

BZ Shan!

Also I think, there is some kind of point where you start losing more flab from the waist than the rest of the body. Like your body switches modes or something...

That's called self-preservation mode.

I'm on my feet and constantly moving at work, so exercise is about the last thing I need when I'm not working.

I measure right at the lilac crest and I'm 28 inches. I was 30 before HRT. I'm really small though.

Honestly, I don't remember seeing any healthy weight woman with a really thick waist. From what I've seen, if they're thick, they're overweight. There might be some who naturally have a thick waist, but they must be pretty rare because I don't remember ever seeing one, and I'm not -that- blind. I really do think females are just made to have thicker waists.

Of course, lots of guys (and not-actually-guys) are that way as well. But not as many as girls. A minority, even, I think.

Sigh, how I wish I were just fat because I've been acting unhealthy, and all I'd need would be some dieting and exercise. Nope, nature had the wicked idea to make me big everywhere. Being born and living fat sucks.

The only reason someone remains fat is because they believe in "CAN'T," there's no such word in my vocabulary, you can delete it from yours as well, your choice!

Well I'm not fat. Actually at 132 lbs for 165 cm (5'5") I'm quite all right, supposedly. But it sucks to see that all I've tried so far (which is arguably not so varied), even with nearly zero T, has built and/or toned muscle, but not done much if anything in the direction I wanted. Once I'm out and comfortable with being in public (which as a guy and with my present body I am not), I'm guessing I'll be more willing to try more things. Oh, I'm so looking forward to swimming. I love to swim, but I can't with my body right now.

Really, becoming healthier is something everyone can do, even if it's easier for some. But looking good, having a good figure... life is much more unfair on that, both in natural state and reachable goals.

Well, unfortunately you can only do so much for a waist if the rib cage and pelvis have decided it is not in the cards... but... having a thin waist is not actually that important to looking feminine, I see women really often who only have a little bit of a waist, even in like fashion mags, so I don't think it is THAT important. The main thing if you have waist problems is dressing appropriately.

I have to agree with you, I notice a lot of smartly dressed women have sense about their problem areas and dress around it. Then there are those that are clueless like the gal who is already top heavy and accentuates it all the more by wearing a dress with empire waistline. Or the woman with the huge rear end who wears skinny jeans with sparkles and studs on the back pockets. It draws your gaze right to her problem like a wide belt does on a fat tummy.

I really respect these women.

They have the courage to wear what they want and to be true to themselves.

About 8 years ago, my goal was to have a body shape, especially a thin waist, like professional models shown in various advertisements. Obsessed with it, I took many photos to compare mine with them. At glance, mine was similar to them, but looking carefully, my body looks anyway masculine.

A photo made in 2005 by myself:

(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi943.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fad278%2Fbarbie_pictures%2Fmodels%2Facro500_zps0db4f901.jpg&hash=1056a0be702e2499e73f2c202140738e8131dd02) (http://s943.photobucket.com/user/barbie_pictures/media/models/acro500_zps0db4f901.jpg.html)

Nowadays, I am still obsessed with a thin waist, but tend to just enjoy some fashion items outdoors with my friends, rather than taking photos.

Oh my, Barbie you have great looking legs! When I browse through the latest Victoria's Secret catalog I am immediately drawn to the fact that most of the girls being airbrushed and photoshopped with their pushups on look like 12 year olds because they don't really have any curves from the ribcage down. They are pretty much straight up and down with very little in the way of waist definition and hips although they do have good legs like your nice long stems Barbie Girl!

Yes, shantel, I noticed it in some cases. Their body is indeed more flexible or body shapes are essentially different from mine because of sexual or ethnic difference, or simply photoshopped.
My obsession is waist, not legs. Most of models have far thinner waist than me. But in any case, they have some fat in their hips and legs, while i have more muscle. Anyway, my waist is as thin as theirs, regardless of rib or hip size.

A similar photo. CK hires excellent models, and their photography skill is just extrairdinary.

Well you'd think I have a small waist when you look at me in panties and an A-shirt, my waist is 33" which seems huge however my chest measures 48" over the nipples of my naked boobs and my hips measured around the peaks of my butt is 40" so I guess it's all about visual balance. I'm really fit and trim for me but I'd really prefer to have a much more petite body, but it is what it is and we have to do the best we can with what we're given. I was a football fullback in HS, so you get the picture.

While all of you were talking about waistlines, i was at Romantasy Corsets in San Francisco, watching my waist get laced down properly.   Will post a compleat account of my exciting first day out in San Francisco, tomorrow !  (right now i'm ready to drop)

It's a lot of discipline though, to do waist training with a corset.  If any of you consider this, i highly recommend Romantasy to do the job right, and to follow through with you on proper nutrition, the essential companion to waist reduction.

There has been quite a bit of pros and cons about corseting in other threads; my intention is not to reopen the debate, but remind folks that this alternative not only exists, but has made many women happy :)

It's not pretty when they get all anorexic and their knees are the biggest part of their legs.

Yeah the ultra skinny look is not so great. I like the catalog models that show up to fashion week. They look more normal toe. Iran I know the camera adds 10 pounds but still it's like your already super slinky so they wanna air brush 20 lbs off you. Craziness

I got my best corset from them when Ann was at a conference thingy in Woburn, MA years back. It cost me 350 after a discount, but was worth it. She also gave me a lot of tips about tightening up my stomach.
