Title: Reflexes and ambidextrousness
Post by: Jennygirl on April 30, 2013, 04:08:30 AM
Anyone else notice their reflexes being a little more on point since starting HRT (specifically estrogen I guess)?

Ever since about month 2 or 3 I've been surprising myself more and more with catching stuff. I am curious if anyone else has noticed this or if it's just me being silly.

Quite the opposite lol I was playing catch with my 3-year-old nephew and he throws pretty good for still being a toddler and I still couldn't catch the ball. I couldn't throw it either very well either. There goes my basketball scholarship lol

I am ambidextrous, and have been all my life, no change after 2Y on HRT...thank you!

Also, my sense of direction, visual -special, reflex velocity, and situational awareness have not change.

In my case, all the HRT changes have concentrated in less body and facial hair, and redistribution of fat. The only psychological change has been an increased interest in males, and perhaps less aggressiveness...but make no mistake..I am still a bitch on wheels

I'll keep an eye on my reflexes for improvement.  Do you want to put your new skills to good use? http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallCascade.html (http://www.kingscascade.com/3BallCascade.html)

Actually I've always been ambidextrous and my reflexes have always kind of been above average and actually still are. But I think that's from my younger days of playing baseball I put a lot of training into that when I was younger. So even now when anything is thrown in my direction it's still my instinct to attempt too catch it.

Yes my reflexes are getting faster...
Girls in general are faster than boys ...so it's estrogen

Ok, technically speking reflexes are involutary, and the thershold that triggers them has been shown to be gender dependent. For example, the amount of stimulus to make a human cough is lower in females. However the response as far as coughing speed is the same in both genders.

Now, I think when we use "reflexes" in laymens conversation we are referring to how fast a person can conciously and voluntarly respond to an stimuli. Say playing ping-pong, or any other physical activity. How fast a person respond dpende on a variety of factors, and they are: age, level of training, genetic inheritance of fast-twitching muscle fibers, number of fast twiching muscle fibers. The last two are directly correlated to your gender...the more tesosterone the more fibers...

So, I am sorry to bust your bubble, but when it coems to reflexes (read speed) the boys live us girls in the dust!!! Now this is as an average..true that there are many fast girls...specially when it comes to taken their husbands to the cleaners ...LOL
