Title: Work and transition
Post by: dlee on May 10, 2013, 03:29:33 AM
I start my job in July which is in 3 months, I will be working at super market so  the job is very people oriented. By then I will only be 3 months into my transition and I don't know whether or not I should present female as soon as I start or transition on the job. Does anyone have any advice or been through the same situation?      :-\

Well, if your voice is where you want it to be, then presenting full-time might be an attractive option.

Most people are capable of concealing the effects of HRT on their bodies for varying lengths of time - for many, this is possible indefinitely. Do what you must, with consideration to what you want, with the goal of making your new job the easiest and most enjoyable experience it can be.

In your situation, I went full-time a couple of weeks after getting my job. If you can, it's better to go full-time before your co-workers get familiar with you, but you can't rush yourself if you're just not ready yet.

I'd go with what kelly said, go for it. That way everyone knows you are a woman from day 1 and will accept you, from your avatar no one would question that you are a good looking young woman and it will be an easy and helpful process for you.

Hugs and congrats on the job!!!!!

How long is your hair? How is your voice? To me, you have very feminine eyes, and the rest of the features on your face are kind of more neutral; the makeup definitely helps though. I think if you can wear a wig, or extensions, or if your hair is already long enough as is, and if your voice is feminine enough, then yeah go for it. As long as you're safe, that's all that matters :) everything else is just a bump in the road.
