Title: Question Regarding Sex Drive (POSSIBLY TMI)
Post by: LocustToybox on May 11, 2013, 03:43:45 AM
I am just curious about how T affects sex drive and how you know that your sex drive is higher. I have always had a very high sex drive for a female, even when I was very young (I started masturbating when I was two and it took my mother until I was four to teach me that it is not acceptable to do in public). It doesn't really interfere with my concentration during school or anything, but many people have said that once you are on testosterone it does. When on testosterone, do you think about sex more often? Does it... uh, feel better? I'm getting on testosterone next month and I'm kind of worried that I will turn into some kind of sex-obsessed lunatic. Sorry if this was TMI, I'm just really curious.

Well most cis-men are not sex driven lunatics so why should you be?

I always had a high sex drive too, and also had to learn as a small child that public masturbation isn't polite.

I feel like testosterone changed my libido a lot, but the increase in desire was minor. It mostly just made it different. I became more responsive to visual turnons and I developed a longer refractory period after each orgasm. I'm less capable of getting off over and over in like a tapestry with subtleties and stuff, and more wired for single clearly-defined orgasms.

Everybody is definitely different though.

I can say that mine has increased in alot of ways.I also had high drive before but things are alot different even now.For example,i am turned on by things that were not there before.I find myself with high drive almost 24/7 but you learn over time to control it-aka just like going through puberty for the first time.So for me and knowing how my old self was,it was a massive increase and i do find it hard at times to keep down but as i said, its a form of retraining process (for me anyway) for me,self gratification seems to be the best resort when in those positions. As far as feeling goes,as compared-it is alot more intense and i find it hard to bite my tongue per say. They were always intense but this goes way beyond that to the point of near full body lock up aka stiffness, which is not normal as before (for me) before,it was more of a feeling of wave but this is more of a rush or complete consumption. So because of that,it is impossible for multibles and can only achieve one then need to regenerate. But the above can depend on your level of self control (which i seem to be finding i am losing haha) but i have done pretty well with not needing contact with another person so its not over bearing for me.PS-being sex crazed isnt bad LOL as long as you know the limits :) and where not to cross.

I was always sexually mindful before. :P However, I had a TERRIBLE experience with birth control pills that KILLED my libido for years, as well as caused other problems. :/ Given, the problem MAY have lasted so long just because my boyfriends since have left me...not sexually active (for various reasons). So there IS a possibility that my drive will return once I get into the hang of things again with a man.  :embarrassed:

Still, I constantly wonder if starting on T would help naturally bring back my urges. As much as I hated being so consumed with the thought of sex, I would MUCH rather have that than this feeling of hopelessness/uselessness in my early 20's.

Dealt with something related to this yesterday in Walmart. I was shopping for groceries and a breastfeeding woman walked by fully exposed. I felt an instant hard on in public for the first time ever, lol. At first I felt like a disgusting pervert but it is what it is and I can't control what naturally occurs.

I jerk anywhere from zero to six times a day. Generally it falls somewhere in the middle. It's just a physical need...not an obsession or anything. Takes five to ten minutes and then life goes on. Understandably I'm hornier the first few days after a shot when levels are at their highest. I just deal with it when I can and forget about it till next time.

You'll be alright. Just be prepared the first few weeks on T to be constantly horny. After that (in my experience) the need is still more than pre T but it's not as bothersome as it was when first starting.

I too had a high sex drive before birth control seriously damaged me. I think that I could be more interested in sex than I am now with my partner, but because of the serious deficiencies in the relationship (long distance sucks among other things) my desire for him is very low. I've often caught myself eyeballing other attractive men.

This morning I woke up wanting to hump the mattress and if he'd been there he would have gotten a morning surprise. That's not normal for me. It wasn't normal when I was normal. My female sex drive always woke up around lunch time and on. Morning sex was just incredibly annoying to me back then because I had things to do.

My sexdrive actually gone down abit, so now it feels abit more stabel I guess you could say, but in the start I got aroused by almost nothing and more often compared to PreT where I didnt felt the need so often, and it took me longer to get aroused, and usunally also in a diffrent way who been more dirrect somehow.

I dont really think it feels greater or in general much diffrent, its hard to say since its along time since I been preT,
But I think I just feel like im horny more often than before and usunally it demand less time to get me turned on than before.

I was concerned about this before T too. I mean, pre-T it would sometimes be so bad that I literally did it 10+ a day and would sometimes have to excuse myself to do it in the bathroom just because of something I saw/heard. If I wasn't doped up, it was bad. And I really haven't experienced a difference on T. And I've gone off T for months and still not noticed a difference. No difference if I miss a shot or anything. The only difference I noticed at all is that it doesn't fluctuate as much now (it used to get even worse certain times of the month).
From everything I've heard over the years, the consensus seems to be that it doesn't affect guys who are already highly sexed as much.

how you know that your sex drive is higher.

This seems self-explanatory to me...and then I thought, well, if you already have a super-high libido, maybe you WOULD have a hard time telling. But in such a case, if you didn't notice, then nothing has really changed, right?

I think the best advice is for you to expect anything and recognize that people get different effects. I had a fairly low sex drive, and mine went up a lot. Some guys don't notice much, if any, change. I think I might have seen a couple of guys on the boards who say that their sex drive has actually decreased. On average, I think guys have seen an increase, but I don't think anyone on the site has ever done a poll on that, and other guys have rightly pointed out that T isn't the only factor.

All you can do is wait and see.

Yeah, our experiences have been very different. My FTM buddies were telling me that it could take six months before my libido decreased and started to stabilize. It took more than a year, and then I recently discovered that some of the decrease came from the finasteride I had been taking. Now I'm back to being much hornier than when I was on F. But I'm definitely not as horny as I was for the first year, year and a quarter on T. Maybe if I decrease my T dose...but that's no guarantee, either.

Sorry to hear you had a similar experience with birth control. :/ I've never been warned of side effects, and doctors were just so willy-nilly to prescribe it. I now go out of my way to warn people of the potential side effects if they're considering getting on them.

Naturally, male Testosterone is higher in the morning hours and slowly depletes throughout the day, and levels are at their lowest in the evening. So I could see how if you've been on T for a while, it would start to get into that natural male rhythm.

I had practically no sex drive before I started T,
And once it hit x___X; Oh gosh...
I've personally rubbed myself raw way more than one too many times...and I guess that should come with a TMI warning as well.
But I supposed that every guy is different.

Yeah..I wasn't ever at that level but I would say I definitely had closer to a male libido while I was supposed to be going through a female puberty. haha.

I would say there is a difference but it's not necessarily an increase or decrease. Sometimes I could swear I have a lower sex drive now than I did in my teens, sometimes I think it's overall more low-key but arousal in itself can be more intense..
I was also on antidepressants for many years and had attempted going off of them twice and failed in the past-- one of the "withdrawal" effects I always got (along with severe panic attacks) was a huge spike in sex drive that was almost unbearable (and probably contributed to the anxiety issues getting worse and worse.) I stopped taking those over a year ago -- which would have been ~ 1 1/2 years on T -- and the same thing happened. So honestly, that is probably the most dramatic difference I will ever see because it seems like my overall arousal levels (physiology-wise) have gone haywire many times just from that.

But yeah I guess the difference is like someone else has posted, there's more of a visual/physical aspect to it that's somewhat separate. Or at least I'm much more aware of that. But sometimes that really doesn't do much for me, other than I will notice certain physical features as sexually attractive even if I am not physically attracted *to* the person. It's often just an objective observation... (I've realized this partly because I'm straight but I find it easier to spot attractiveness in men as well.)
