Despite Cuba's previous outlawing of homosexuality during the '60s, they sponsored an anti-homophobia parade where marchers yelled "Homophobia no! Socialism yes!" as they walked and danced through Havana.
The march was lead by Mariela Castro, the president's daughter, who is head of the National Sexual Education Center. Mariela states that she is confident the country will legalize gay marriage. Among attendance was Farah Maria who claims to be the first person in Cuba to get a sex change.
