Dear firends,
I am planning to have a hair transplantation in the next months. I am not taking any hormons yet. Today I heard that some people are loosing their transplanted hair after starting with HRT. Of course that would be a huge problem for me because I will not have anough hair for a second hair transplantation. But otherwise I do not want to wait with the hair transplantation because it will take time for the hair to grow. And because of my job I will need a very good passing when going full-time. (I am now a part-time girl). And I also do not like to wear a wig the whole time because of many reasons (long business travels, sports....).
Had anyone experienced the permanent loss of transplanted hair after starting with HRT?
Kind regards
Lara
Hi Lara,
That's the first time I have ever heard anyone raise a concern about that. Actually I would have imagined that HRT would be beneficial, especially if Finasteride is included in the mix.
I have been on HRT for several years, including Finasteride, and hair loss stopped pretty well immediately afterwards. Based on this I really don't see how it could have a negative impact on transplants. BTW, treatment with Finasteride is always recommended prior to hair transplants.
Last detail, I did extensive hair transplants just before Christmas and it has worked out really well with minimal, if any, loss of grafts. Regrowth set in after about 2.5 months and coverage is already very good.
Wishing you all the best.
Donna
Dear Donna,
thank you for sharing your experience with me. I already took Finasteride for 3 months and I just changed to Dutasteride 2 weeks ago. Minodixil is included in my regime as well as KET shampoo.
Kind regards,
Lara
