Title: American Laser Center - decent price?
Post by: Kupcake on May 18, 2013, 07:19:02 PM
Hey guys and gals,

I could use a bit of advice.  To start with, I'm a 3.5 on skin type.  I hesitated from doing laser earlier, for that reason.  But my hair is very dark, and my skin is on the lighter side of brown, so I have decent contrast, and I think I'm a good candidate for the current generation of machines.  That's part of the reason I'm going with American Laser Center.  They've got newish laser technology, they worked well for a trans friend of mine, and they've had success with people with even darker skin than me.  Given the risks, I'd rather go somewhere I feel is trustworthy, and this place is looking good.  Oh, and I'm in the Southern California area.  I live in OC, but the LA area is also an option for me.

Anyway, I'm getting a quote of 4500 for their full package.  Six treatments each for every area, covering my entire body.  Is that a good price?  I need an answer soonish, as this is (supposedly) a promotional price.

Love,
Kupcake

If you mean 6 full-body treatments covering everything (face, chest, full arms, full legs, back, stomach)... It's a fair price. Middle of the road. Probably a deal in your location perhaps.

I'd never pay in advance though, as many of the providers can close shop overnight, leaving you high and dry. No money and no laser.

Ok.  You have a good point.

I'm not terribly worried about them disappearing.  They're a corporate chain which has over 100 locations across the country.  I think it would be very damaging to their reputation if the scenario you described occurred, and on top of that, you can get treatments at any location.  If I buy with them, there are several places I could go to in my area if this one shut down.

But I guess there are other things that could go wrong if I pay up front.  I think I'll check the reviews on them, to see if people have had problems.
