Title: Obtaining temporary passport w/proper gender
Post by: Hazumu on June 05, 2007, 12:20:29 AM
I haven't found a definitive how-to for requesting and obtaining a temporary passport with your proper gender on it.  The information at Transgender law says it can be done, but it depends on whether the clerks feel like helping you.  Here at Susan's the stories I read suggest this is true.

So is there a foolproof method to dot their i's and cross their t's so I achieve the desired end state (a temporary passport that says [KAREN], [FEMALE],) with a minimum number of do-overs and back-ups and start-agains?  If not foolproof, what things increase chances of success, and what things diminish it?

Thank you;

Karen

I'd try getting your document in San Francisco where they are more open to this sort of thing. You could also call and ask. They won't know who you are on the phone! I may travel out that way later in the summer to get my passport.  I sure don't want to do it here.

Do you have any more info on how it works in SF? I have a friend who needs to get a suitable passport to travel with.

Personally I got my passport done easy F marked and everything :).

I am pretty sure you need some letters from either therapist or a surgeon.
