I felt the same thing so much... NOW the problem is never having enough money to buy even a fraction of the cute things I come across :)

SO TRUE! Now I can wear them... If I get a job and earn enough money to buy them. xD

What is your preferred style btw? :) I'm into the whole Asian hipster thing, and the clothes are pretty cheap and well made. I buy mostly from yesstyle.ca cause the mall I live near only has stores I hate like American Eagle (fugly stuff imo) or Aritizia (super overpriced!!!!!)

Oh sorry I missed that last reply! lol

I actually adore the Asian hipster thing even though I've never tried to do it myself, well I'm white and somehow I don't feel like I would pull it off, lol. Always wanted to give yesstyle a try though. :)

Right now my style is pretty plain because I've been focusing on filling holes in my wardrobe staples... I have so many cute clothes I want to wear that just are just too dressy for like running errands and stuff haha. Lately I mainly like Forever 21, H&M... also J. Crew, Bebe, Zara, Anthropologie etc. for eye candy or consignment shopping when I get the chance.

When I have more money to experiment, along with yesstyle I want to try out some other fun sites like modcloth and river island :)

I can't afford to do  any of this, I shop at Goodwill, I just get whatever is there in size 10 skirts and medium tops that match, my whole wardrobe was less than $75 just in the last 4 months (I recently lost a fair amount of weight) I ended up with a lot of denim and stuff like that

It's rather hilarious that half the thread mentions things that don't really have anything to do with being a girl =P

@kyh

Yes I know lookbook, also use chictopia, sometimes polyvore for inspiration :)

I'll have to try the Asian hipster thing sometime and hope I don't look like a giant compared to the other girls who wear it :P

Make sure if you do you post pictures in the Fabulous thread ^_^ If you post in the Could I Pass One Day or the Do I Pass thread I'll have to slap you silly. :P

Btw, after seeing just the homepage of chictopia I'm already thoroughly impressed! These girls are really fashionable xD

Yeah, shopping at thrift stores can be really fun! I've never really found any clothes that I've liked there, mostly just books. Places like Value Village have really varied and cheap selections of books, and in all sorts of languages. I picked up a couple of novels in German and Harry Potter in Korean. Good way to study those languages! Korean's super tough though :(

OMG I lovelove love thrift and consignment stores! I go to the Buffalo exchange and they have them all across the country in every major metro area and its motto is high-end guilt-free fashion. I got this super cute pink cami top from Bollovo, and great pair of black calvin Klein Skinny Jeans (when I get the confidence I am going to start wearing red skinny jeans) oooh and I have this awesome nautical-style top that is in my avatar. Every girl should have a nautical-style top in her wardrobe! Seriously they are all the rage and every where I go I see women wearing them and I am like how dare these [insert expletive] steal my style lol

So how about we go back to the subject and not shopping before the thread gets locked.

Well, alright. But shopping and wearing pretty clothes, these are things that I like about being a girl.

I must give a strong warning against H&M. The quality is awful. Even Wal-Mart has better quality. I bought two plain guys' t-shirts to wear as pajamas, there. After maybe 10-15 times in the washing machine they were completely discoloured, full of beige lines. Nope, no bleach, just good old normal soap. Also, I bought three girls' sweaters, and they were so full of fluff I filled a whole trash can in fluff from the three of them, manually, for hours, before they were wearable and didn't leave tons of fluff everywhere. That didn't last though, because they all shrunk a ton in 2-3 washings and were ridiculously short then.

High fashion can be an important part of being a girl.  But I'm more of the Earth Mother type, who enjoys her blue jeans, her t-shirts, and her Enzo Angiolini boots.

You just need to find your own style. I have been into fashion since like forever. A lot of it is just finding what looks good on you and feeling out what is comfortable. With men's clothes, you just buy like jeans and a shirt and that's it. With women's clothes, it is a lot more involved and about layering and mixing and matching and stuff so I guess it could be hard for some people especially if you are used to running into a store grabbing jeans and a tee and leaving.

Of course I'll also say the fashion however being a tall girl that I am standing at 6'3 with out heels shopping can be a pain in the butt. Long Tall Sally is a great website for tall fashions for tall women. They are home based in the UK but you can shop on line from the UK to the US and Canada. Their site is http://www.longtallsally.com (http://www.longtallsally.com) I have also found pants with 36 inseam at Old Navy online. My shoe size is from a 12 open shoe like flip flop to a size 13 closed boot.

As for tops I have to get ether XL or XXL since I'm no longer a skinny B LOL At 6'3 and 220 about. I can't just go in to regulor shops. For small people because their clothing wont fit me. But I  buy key pieces. That i can mix and match. The show What Not To Wear I have learned so much from. And with clothing you really do need to try things on to know what works and what does not.

I love the fashion, but hate the prices.  I have an expensive taste that I can't afford.  All those years of repressing and not allowing myself a treat has left me wanting desperately.  Also, my shopping has been online because I haven't worked up the courage to go in stores yet.  Unfortunately, things don't always fit because of this.  Good thing I'm waiting for hrt before I go all out.  I think I will have bought out the entire fashion industry once that happens, lol.

Hum just wondering but did you follow the washing instructions? A lot of more fashion-forward clothes & fabrics are hand wash or dry clean only.
For some reason my reply didn't get posted. They weren't fashion-forward clothes; they were plain, ugly guys' t-shirts and basic plain hoodies. And yeah, I did follow the instructions (that is, machine wash and dry are okay). And even though I did everything according to the instructions, they got ruined really fast. I even think 10-15 washings was a pretty optimistic estimation. In the past, I did NOT follow the instructions on other pieces of clothes, and they still lasted much longer in a much better state.

For a Christmas Party I did buy a one fairly nice Dress that cost more, it was semi-formal. I was able to pay for it with points I earned by taking surveys online. It was actually the first date I had had in 10 years and the nicest I had dressed in a long time  ;D, I loved dressing up, I even bought special shoes for the occasion, something I never did as a guy.

A follow up.  I'm actually making plans with one of my girlfriends to go shopping for clothes in store sometime soon.  Well, once I have enough money saved up.   I'm really nervous, but so excited!  Hopefully, it will be a lot easier to shop in store than online.

One of the best things about being a girl is shopping together, store to store, trying on all kinds of things all day  ;D

this IS very fun I think you will have a blast. It is very much esier than online, you get to try on everything make sure it fits and the colors match you never have to send anything back and there are are saleswomen in the better stores to consult with about what to wear!  ;D

Yeah, shopping with people is so much fun. Except if you shop with my mother or sister. My sister isn't the hugest fan of shopping and pushes me all the time to visit as many stores as possible, and my mother hates shopping and is just a combination of every shopping annoyance ever.

She tries things on and shops for herself with little care for me, she has weird taste, she finds everything okay so you get no real opinion, she's always in a hurry to leave, and she knows so many people everywhere that she always encounters someone she knows, which makes sure that every time I'm in a public place with her, I have to endure at least one long conversation in which I feel awfully awkward because I'm just not included, so I'm waiting and trying not to stare at them too much. It's even worse than waiting outside a bathroom while someone goes. x_x (And with that I get revenge to a degree, because I'm really slow. xD)

I wish I had someone to shop with. :c Shopping alone is no fun, and even scary to an extent, sometimes.

You need to get some girlfriends, not a girlfriend, some girlfriends, like join a book club take a college class play bunco get out do something with the girls so you can really get to know more people and do more stuff with people other than just mom and sis. it is a lot more fun. It was easier for me I found friends at college classes and at a womens group with LGBT but I am a lesbian don't know about you.

I like the asian stuff too (since that's what I am), but I can't seem to find any that are big enough for my shoulders without stretching the clothes, in which case it looks bad. But then if they're too big, just looks weird.

I love Long Tall Sally for their tops. I like their fitted, clingy or figure hugging tops and are the only ones that I feel are long enough in length without going to tunics, which I hate. The last time I was in their St. Albans store, I had an unusual experience. I'm 5'9" and I was the shortest girl there.

My favorite thing besides the actual shopping with a close girlfriend is the coffee after the shopping. Then the crash in bed on top of all of your new clothes an hour later when the coffee wears off...

It's definitely one of my favorite things about being a girl. A successful day of finding new pieces with a friend is easily the most fun/rewarding thing I can think of doing now. And then of course that coffee afterward. It's non-optional.

Yeah, well, because of my somewhat lacking social abilities, introversion and the fact that right now (not for long though!) I'm still pretty much a girly guy, which must be pretty weird to people, I don't have friends. I'm somewhat friendly with most people in my study program, but that's all. As for LGBT... There's one group called "LGBT" in the region, but the T aspect is pretty much absent, and since it's the only one in the region, it's for all ages. And I don't want to be mean, but it's gonna be hard to relate to people >35 years old when not only I'm 22 but I feel like a child in my mind.

Not to mention I never liked the idea of lumping together with LGBT people. Not that I dislike them; just that I'd feel weird meeting people for the reason of having similar issues to theirs. I may be bi, but I've never considered being part of the "gay community", whatever that is. It sounds just as weird as an exclusively "hetero community" to me. Not that I think it's a bad thing. I just don't feel comfortable with it.

I'm sorry to hear that.  I have difficulty making new friends as well.  I wish I had more girlfriends in general to do these things with.  And like you most of the people who go to the support group I occasionally attend are a lot older than me, except the ftms they tend to be younger.  It would be nice to have more girlfriends to hang out with.

If you ever find yourself in New York, you have a friend here that would love to go shopping :)

I am sorry you have not found anyone to connect with yet, as things move on I hope you can eventually find some friends.

You do need to find some segment of society though where you you will fit in and not just isolate yourself. Some sense of community, Not necessarily "LGBT" or "Hetero" but some group of something a club of some sort anything that you like. where you can click with the people.

Skinny jeans are AWESOME!!! As are fitted tops with that sewn-in waist curve for that matter. I love that I can wear clothes that actually show off the shape of my body rather than hiding it under a big blocky nothingness. Men's clothes suck. Seriously.

(Still have a long way to go before I'll be able to wear anything "cute," but I swear I'll catch up to you darned skinny girls one of these days... watch out! :P)

I love wearing dresses.. especially long flowing summer dresses... or a nice skirt with slit up one side.. Mini skirts are nice too, I do love showing off my legs..

I love wearing high heel shoes.. especially long boots.

I want to wear a bikini this summer,  still looking for that perfect one.. I want a thong bikini, but i need space to tuck..

I love wearing thong panties, I actually find thongs very comfortable, it is an acquired taste and you need to get use to them. I wear them most days. I remember when I first wore one, it was weird having something going up you crack, but you soon get use it and you forget its there, and when you bend, it does pull.. but I like that feeling.

I would love to wear a real g-string, one where you have nothing in the back but a small string holding it together, but been pre-op fitting everything in an issue.  My G-girl roommate wears them and she says that they are comfortable, like the thong an acquired comfort, but great when wearing tighter clothing as you show no panty lines.

My roommate says, the more uncomfortable something feels, the better you look in it.. Women do suffer for beauty and often are feel cold or uncomfortable to look stunning. I remember i once wear a strapless dress to a party, which required me to wear a really cute strapless bra, the bra was uncomfortable, but made my breasts looks really good. The underwire of the bra, kept on sticking into me, I had quite a red mark by the end of that evening. I have worm other strapless bra before and never had that experience, but then my breasts did not look so good.
