Okay, so I am 18 and have been on hormones for exactly 23 days. I haven't really noticed much. Slight nipple tenderness is the only sure sign so far.
I am very worried though because I am pretty underweight. My BMI is 17.4 and the underweight range starts at 18.5. I have read that this will prevent me from breast growth; will it inhibit other changes as well?
I am trying to gain weight but am struggling. Hopefully I will start putting some on soon. I am worried that if I DO start it will be too late. Should I have started gaining weight pre-HRT or if I start now can I still hope for good results?
Thanks!!!

Being underweight might cause issues with development - for the same reason anorexic girls often have very small breasts: if there's no fat to use, and you're not taking any in, the body has nothing to work with.
I suggest immediate and intensive chocolate therapy.
Everyone is different of coarse, but I started out a bit under weight for my height etc. Now I'm constantly trying to lose a few pounds ::)
@Zoe,
And everyone knows gaining weight is just SOO much more fun, haha. You can eat like a pig and still be getting healthier.
@Kyh,
Thank you, this makes me feel much better. And, yes. I never thought of that. The fat won't have to move around. It will just go straight to the right place. So I may be at just the right place to start?
Btw, how tall are you, may I ask? And also you are already very pretty so I'm sure the estrogen will turn you into like a MODEL.
@VM,
So, do you think the HRT will help me gain weight? I've heard I will get a more female metabolism....
I know this one well. It depends on how underweight you are and if your getting enough of the nutrients that your body needs in order to develop :)
My breast development has been very disappointing, and my bmi is at 17.5ish - 100lbs on 5'4". So far, after two and a half years of hormones, I've made it to an "AA". My mom and sister are both seeking breast reduction, since they're extremely large... and I'm wishing for the opposite. I haven't looked into breast tissue donation, but I'm doubtful that it would be possible.
So, I'd expect weight would be important to have. I haven't been able to gain weight at all... Doctors and people just say, "eat more", probably because they can put on weight just by letting go of their diets. They think it's easy to put on weight. It probably is, for them, but I've really, really tried. I don't have the money for the food I would probably require to put on weight any more, so it's a non-issue at this point.
You should do fine if you start gaining weight while on HRT, though. More than fine.
