One of the days at a Wisconsin Elementary-Middle School's Spirit Week was "gender bender day" where girls dress like boys and boys dress like girls. Some parents were upset and kept their children home from school, and at least one mother, Deidri Hernandez said it promotes homosexuality, and "said she finds the theme "ridiculous" and "creepy" and added that "having students dress as 'transvestites' will distract from the learning process" . . ."

Spirit Week is voluntary, and students could dress up only if they wanted to, and the themes are decided by the students according to the districts public relations manager.

At my h.s, once a year football players would get in drag and perform on stage in front of the school.
Kinda like a pageant. The girls would go back stage and dress them up and then we'd crown a winner!
Some went as far as too wax their whole bodies XD

They did it to raise money for trips and stuff.
I live in Canada though, way more open minded about that stuff here.
And lets not talk about Halloween. Lol

I don't recall any of them turning gay ;)

It sounds like the parents need to be enlightened more than the kids do (sigh).

Gender and homosexuality are two seperate issues in my opinion. Gender bending has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. I remember when I told my mom a long time ago that I wanted a sex change she said that just because I liked girls doesn't mean I have to be a boy. I tried to explain to her that me feeling like a guy had nothing to do with me liking girls. My issue is with my body rather than who I develope romantic feelings for. Gender is often referred to as sex for some strange reason. Instead of being asked what your gender is you're asked what your sex is. Sex is an act that you do with yourself or others. Gender is female, male, neither, or other. Dark Knight I agree with you whole heartedly. ~hope

Matt Kailey doesn't like it, said he felt it was an opportunity for kids to bash gays. http://tranifesto.com/2013/05/27/hey-conservative-mom-i-dont-like-gender-bender-day-either/ (http://tranifesto.com/2013/05/27/hey-conservative-mom-i-dont-like-gender-bender-day-either/)
